NC-GOV: Trump distances himself from Mark Robinson: 'I'm not familiar'

With early voting underway and two weeks until Election Day, Donald Trump is still trying to keep distance between himself and North Carolina's embattled Republican nominee for governor.

Asked by POLITICO at a campaign stop on Monday whether he would urge voters here to still support Mark Robinson, Trump declined to say either way.

“I’m not familiar with the state of the race right now,” Trump told POLITICO as he prepared to step into the black SUV that would whisk him back to his private plane. “I haven't seen it.”

Trump has not appeared with Robinson since mid-August, when the lieutenant governor came onstage as Trump called for local sheriffs to come up. Robinson was not explicitly invited up. Since then, news broke of past lewd posts Robinson made on pornographic online forums, causing his already poor poll numbers to sink even lower.
