Vanessa was brutally murdered by another soldier and pre-election TSF promised to pay for the funeral, to get votes.
TSF loses the election he then says it doesnt cost 60,000 bucks to bury a Mexican, I am being ripped off Dont pay it.
This piece of shit if elected will be the commander of our military.

If this was the narrative for just 3 or 4 days it would make a difference in the election but it takes more people than just Nicolle Wallace.

People who met with TSF took contemporaneous notes so they had something to fall back on.

(34,294 posts)"It's in the Atlantic" in the form of the reporter relating what these people said.
If, as seems to be the case, you are saying that this is reliable information because it's in The Atlantic, I'm not sure you quite understand how these things work.
I'm puzzled by your diligence in presenting the Trump side of the story.

No he didn't pay for it, but it sounds like they don't want to be a part of this.

(3,944 posts)The article says that the statement came to the reporter from two sources, neither of which was "the family."
The statement itself does not purport to be from "the family." It specifically comes from the sister and no one else. Yes, she once says "we." She twice says "I." And at no time does she represent that she is making the statement at the behest of, or on behalf of, her family.
Finally, you're trailing a bit of red herring.
Whether the family wants to be involved or not, the sister's statement in no way contradicts the basic point of the story, which is: Trump said he would pay and he didn't.
And, as others have pointed out in this thread, you seem to be pushing the proposition that denials from Trump's people of the "fucking Mexican" statement settle it.
BTW: Whatever gratitude the sister may express has no bearing on whether Trump said the words at issue. She has no knowledge of that one way or the other.

Ponder that and maybe it will become clearer to you?

(32,321 posts)TSF invited the Guilln family to the White House, with cameras recording, TSF sat and listened to the family and promised to help with the funeral. This was right before the election.
The Guilln family, who I believe, never got a nickel from TSF, those are facts.

(3,944 posts)You said you just don't know who to believe.
And that pretty much has to be who to believe as to the "fucking Mexican" statement. Cuz I'm pretty sure nobody is claiming that Trump paid.
So now you're suddenly saying, "The family doesn't want to be involved."
That has what to do with anything?
The family has no information as to the truth or falsity of the story about what Trump said.
LeftInTX
(34,294 posts)He had people coming and going at breakneck speed at the time. Many didn't get along with each other.
And people on this thread can't even spell her name correctly. Yet they are touting how Trump called her an effing Mexican
dpibel
(3,944 posts)What does the family's wishes, statements, or anything else about the family have to do with whether you believe one set of Trumpers or another?
You've asserted that the family's position, or the sister's statement, or something somehow bears on who you should believe.
How does that work for you?
dpibel
(3,944 posts)You are now positing that Mr. President Trump Sir probably did not speak the words "fucking Mexican" because posters on DU have misspelled the deceased's name?

(3,944 posts)Her name is not, as you style it, "Guillen." It is "Guillén."
You should study up! It's a pretty well-known fact that one of the software glitches of the DU website is that subject lines will not render diacritical remarks.
But, as you can see from the first line of this reply, you can do things properly in the body of the reply.
Just for fun: Where did you read "Guillin or Gilliin"? Those renderings don't appear in this thread.
Did you just make those up? If so, why?
LeftInTX
(34,294 posts)You are ignoring the subject of this thread. It's about making what Trump said about Vanessa to go viral.
You are thr one who is changing the subject. Maybe you should go on TV yourself and make it go viral and insult her family.
I'm tired of the way Latinos are treated around here.
dpibel
(3,944 posts)Airing to the world Trump's vicious racism is "insulting her family"?
It's something about how "Latinos are treated around here"?
You should meet the point sometime. It would help you.
On edit: You're slagging other posters for misspelling the name. But for you, it's just OK? "I can't make it work"?
I think you've got the twirlies.

(34,294 posts)I am married to one. (39 yrs) That's all that's around here. It's 70% Latino. My three grown kids are. I live in a Latino neighborhood. Do you? What do you know?
Tell me all about your experience Mr know it all!
By all means go around and start insulting Vanessa's family.

(3,944 posts)Explain to me how it is that reporting that Trump is a pig bigot who says profane and ugly things about Latinos constitutes an attack on Latinos.
You've got the experiential edge on me here.
But so far, you're arguing that reporting what Trump said is somehow in itself an attack on Latinos.
And I frankly don't get that.
You have, in this thread, first argued that maybe Trump didn't say it, because there were battling accounts from two Trump factions.
Then you said that no one could say anything if they couldn't spell a name you couldn't properly render yourself.
You're all over the place here.
I honestly believe your ire is misdirected.
Maybe if you take a moment to review what has happened in this thread it will help you understand why you are not making sense.
I honestly don't know what my experience--know it all or not--has to do with your argument.
You're attacking DU posters. I've tried to make sense of your attacks. I can't.
I've questioned your analytic. You've offered really not much but ad hominem.
The best I can figure is this: Trump has been quoted as saying "fucking Mexican." You believe that repeating that epithet constitutes an attack on Latinos.
Is that it?
Cuz, honestly, I don't think that's how this all works.

(34,294 posts)You may very well have a point. You just don't seem to be able to communicate it.

I'm honestly interested in what's got you so exercised here. But it does not appear you're willing to do the work to sort it out.

What the sister heard was the promise and knew about the warm treatment (for the cameras right before the 2020 election). She voted for Trump yesterday or today, she says.
The funeral procession was more costly than most because of the length of the route, with people lining the roads. People donated to help the family. Trump appears to have reneged on the offer but the sister may not have realized it or may have found it hard to believe, based on the earlier treatment. Sadly it fits with what we know of Trump's attitude to both money and minorities (especially those who aren't yt). The Atlantic is known for extremely careful verification of sources, so on balance I would say it's likely to be true he said such vicious words, with as much venom as the printed words hint at.
