Was in VA this morning for a six months checkup. One of the questions they asked me was:

... 'is there anything that stresses you these days?' I said waiting for President Harris to be elected. She was shocked because out here I look MAGA. She took my blood pressure and told me I told her the truth, my blood pressure was 126/85, usually 100/65.

at my checkup, i told my doctor that i needed something so that i could continue to be professional at work, because i worked with people who voted for TCFSF.

He gave me klonopin and to this day I still take it - no more than 1 pill 2 times a week.

I think many of us, me included has PTSD from the years of this stress.

here's a hug for you and all of us

ETA your high BP is great for me. I'll take that any day!

The drivers are nice to be sure. But sometimes when I went through the Toronto area (when I was driving over the road trucking) the traffic reports on City News 680 would be thick with accidents. And despite our truck having the transponders for the toll roads in the USA we didn't have them for the 407, so off limits to us or be fired/fined personally for the thousands of dollars it would cost the company so there was no bypassing the mess. Just sit there and wait for it to clear. Assuming the OPP didn't shut down the whole highway of course.

I have not seen so many bad drivers and am embarrassed when I go to another province with my red and white license plate. Everybody in the country know they are bad drivers.

on stress of any kind. Alas, despite medication, despite losing weight, it's still quite high.

I've decided that since I'm otherwise the healthiest person I know -- shall I be annoying and mention that it's been nearly fifty years since I last got a cold or flu and I don't bother with a flu shot -- I've come to the conclusion that high bp is my one and only thing.

I'm no doctor but my mum struggles with high blood pressure. And later on we found out depression (that she was excellent at masking).

I have high blood pressure. And depression (that I'm not good at masking).

So maybe your high BP is hereditary? Just food for thought that's all.

I'm on BP meds and feel fortunate to get below 135/90. 120/80 is considered healthy.

My stress level has gone up. My cholesterol is up a bit and they want to put me on statins, I’ve said no. The side affects of that stuff are way worse. So I’m trying to modify my diet to lower it.

... We eat a fraction of the fats we did in 1900, yet heart disease has increased. anxiety and modern life is the problem. The body produces cholesterol to repair damage.

This is how my doctor explains it.

It’s all that processed junk. I will confess, that I’m pretty sure I know what my problem is. Crappy high fat bakery stuff. I was on a diet for two years and lost a ton of weight. Then I stopped it and went crazy for high fat treats. I’m just now getting away from them again. It’s been rough, depravation while dieting seems to make me fall right back into weight gain. I’m a carbohydrate eater, love them. They are very bad for me. Keto is high fat, but low carb. It works well, but I still crave carbs.

She has an amazing program that is what people need to hear about, not her take on TFG's latest spinning on his thumb episode.
