Long overdue. PBS Newshour aired a segment tonight on Trump's cognitive decline and actually interviewed a clinical psychologist. All the legacy networks should interview mental health experts when discussing Trump especially after the way they treated President Biden.

(136,577 posts)See Dr. Bandy Lee
'On the afternoon of February 1, 2016, as Iowa voters prepared for that evenings caucuses, Bandy Lee sat by the bedside of her mother, who was terminally ill with cancer. An assistant professor of clinical psychiatry at Yale, Lee had been too preoccupied with her mothers condition to pay attention to the nascent presidential race, so she was taken aback when she saw footage of a Donald Trump rally airing on the hospital rooms small TV. What shocked her was the way Trump interacted with the crowd. He said something about how his supporters should knock the crap out of hecklers, she recalls, and that if they did, he would pay their legal bills.
His belligerent behavior meant more to Lee than it might to a casual viewer. As part of her clinical work in prison settings, she had evaluated and treated hundreds of violent offenders, including leaders of prison gangs. A native New Yorker, she had assumed that Trump was just a shady businessman, Lee told me, but I suddenly realized that he had a lot in common with those patients. Trump was engaging in the predatory manipulation of his vulnerable followers.'>>>

H2O Man in particular has made sure we know of Bandy Lee, but there have been many other psychiatrists and publications.
People who claim to not know of or not heard about this have had their eyes tight shut.
My three-part 2020 interview with her for DU might be of even more value today.

(6,052 posts)hiding him and only doing a few more spots because they are scared to death of what will come out of his mouth especially after the Arnold Palmer fiasco. But will the other big media actually give this anywhere near the air time they gave their attacks about Joe? I seriously doubt it.

(25,710 posts)Who Watches PBS - A Breakdown of Demographics
By: Dareni Wellman
Snip...
PBS Viewer Demographics
According to PBS Foundation data, roughly 100 million people watch their local PBS stations in a given month. That excludes the tens of millions of viewers who stream video on PBSs website and mobile apps. Weve divided a look at who these people are into separate categories, including a glimpse of their professional, personal and familial lives.
PBS Viewers as Individuals

If one were to combine the average statistics for PBS viewers on a national level, they would likely find a married, homeowning woman who is in her 30s or 40s and has at least one child under the age of 11. This viewer takes at least 3 vacations each year, owns a pet, holds a post-graduate degree and voted in the last election. Like with other forms of public media, this statistically average viewer would also be a big supporter of the arts and culture in her community.
However, the racial demographics get even more interesting depending on the PBS station being viewed.
For example, KERA in Dallas and Houston Public Media both have a reach of 80 percent or more among Hispanic and Latinx viewers, with KERA having the largest cumulative audience of this group in the country. Houston Public Media and Georgia Public Broadcasting in Atlanta reach similarly large numbers of Black viewers. Thats not including the demographics for PBS KIDS, which ranks #1 in reaching a diverse audience of Black, Asian, Hispanic and Native American children ages 2-11, and their caregivers.
Furthermore, as PBS has adapted its content to reflect the ever-changing diversity of America, the audiences have recognized this change. According to PBS surveys, 74% of their audience believes PBS content features a diverse range of people.

(3,713 posts)Interview was a mangled mess of word salad and that was from his early presidential run or shortly after. It was a stream of stupid conscious. He was all over the place. He would start talking about something then without finishing he would go to something else.
His staff had to bring in a single page daily brief that had bullet points and pictures of him to even get him to read it.
