Anyone else unable to watch the TV news lately?

I really don't "watch" TV, but if I'm in the house, I'll usually have the TV on, and I will usually have MSNBC on, and sometimes catch bits and pieces of the news by listening in the background while I'm doing something else. But most of my news, I get right here on DU.

However, over the past few weeks (where out of necessity I have been inside more than usual), I cannot have ANY news playing on the TV without getting anxious. MSNBC, CNN, local news, Spectrum regional news, nothing. Something broke in me where I get anxious when the news is on.

So now, I just leave the TV on the TV Land channel all day.

Seinfeld, King of Queens, Gunsmoke, Andy Griffith, etc.

Anyone else had enough of the news? Anxiety? Fed up? Just sick of it?

The last time I legitimately turned on the news was when Robin Williams died, because I didn't want to believe it was happening, and that was it.

I don't miss cable news one bit.

I keep mine on Hallmark or TCM.

I tune into local news for the weather... and am more apt to look at their websites for the rest of the local news.

There are days here when I have to stick to the Lounge. I suspect there will be more as the election approaches.

Conscious decision on my part early in the 2016 campaign. I wanted to avoid hearing/seeing Trump in video form and largely succeeded until after the election.

My partner watches a lot of MSNBC so I get some of that by it filtering to my home office, but I rarely ever watch it by choice, other than really significant events (i.e. Trump trials) or election nights.

But I've had to turn off the NBC Nightly News since the BIden/Trump debate. First, it was "growing calls for Biden to step aside" nonstop. After Harris stepped in Lester/His writers/Producers/Owners just want SO BAD for this to be a horse race and to both sides the shit out of this election.

I do find value in other stories (international events; business news; human interests; disaster coverage). But it is just this damn election, its's just ALL...THE...DAMN...TIME.

I have no tolerance for cable news. Zero. There's no news. Just pundits. Honestly, just bring something back like the old Headline News.

I'm down (barely) to the Sunday morning CBS Margaret BRENNAN, and pick-and-choose YouTube spots, David PAKman the best. Oh, forgot, yes MAHER on the grounds of something a DUer said about Tweety (Chris MATTHEWS for the young'uns) years ago, "WHEN he's on our side nobody's better."

Started with local news when Scott Walker was governor and Paul Ryan told us not to worry about Trump as he was just "trolling" liberals. Ended paper subscription when ads outweighed stories and majority of stories leaned right. Then I started getting angry at cable "news". My final straw was Jake Tapper with Amanda Carpenter and a representative of the federalist society. We decided to cancel cable, it was getting too expensive and too conservative. My husband loves sports but even they got vocally right wing and we have never looked back. I even stopped watching npr as they had too many republicans. I occasionally try national and local news but they are still too right wing. I tried YouTube for awhile but could not even watch hurricane coverage because of the right wing ads.

I am alone during the day and rarely turn on my tv. We have certain shows we like but keep the mute button close for commercials. So much news makes me angry just for the stories themselves and add the speculation and interpretation of the people giving us the news just trips me over the edge. Even here I use the ignore button a lot. I may clear it again after the election. Gotta keep sane.

I can't barely stand hearing anything about The Dipshit. Lawrence makes segments about him palatable enough for me to listen.

Other than that, I can't stand it anymore. I'm sick of the thousands of reports on the slightest crap he and his assholes pull.

They're finally calling out Trump and his Hitler worship and lies and hate-spewing. Not quite enough, but they're not humping him the way they and much of the media have, up until now.

against tRUMP and his constant spew of lies.

It seems more frequent.

Maybe the news media is finally noticing that they are missing a major market (us) via the lack of our presence in viewing their slanted newscasts (towards tRUMP).

I love "Chopped" and really any cooking or baking competition shows. I have them on for the "noise" factor in my house. FN is part of HBO Max, so that is where my TV goes when I get home. They replaced watching the "news" since 2016.

I haven't had the news on since the 2020 elections, slams on Biden admin drove me over the edge.
I have watched some special events, but not the news or evening talk shows.
I just can't. I do browse DU headlines.

I'm retired so the TV is on more.

I have options. Not as much as I want.

I can watch other than news. Network shows. Record and watch later. Switch back and forth. Other activities.
