Voter turnout, does it mean anything for Democrats?

I always felt and said, if every eligible voter would vote, republicans would never win.

Here is an article about voter turnout helping one party.

A more concise summary of the Republican view of voting has never been stated.

While claiming the Democrats are cheating.
For as long as I can remember, I have heard that Democrats are voting dead people.

What they are selling seldom helps out the people in their counties/districts/states. They can't garner the necessary majorities in a fair election, so they do what they have to in order to "win:" they cheat. The biggest irony of all is that afterward, they go out, wave the flag, and crow that we are the greatest democracy in the world.

I always felt and said, if every eligible voter would vote, republicans would never win.

Is that because the number of Republicans is 38.8 million and the number of Democrats is 49 million?

There are more Independents than Republicans, so a lot depends on this.

The article seems to have a lot of facts and backup. It is published by the Heritage Foundation, though.

that because republicans try to subvert voting, particularly amongst certain racial and ethnic groups, they know everyone voting is not good for them.

I have never seen anyone getting out the vote here for democrats. Today we saw a guy canvassing and I immediately thought Trumps people but as we passed him on dog walk he was wearing a little Harris button. I was wearing my Harris tshirt and we had a great conversation. He is only going to friendly homes on a list reminding them to turn in ballot since we are all by mail or ballot box.

He said he had never done it before but this was too important a election.

These are voters who skip midterms but will vote occasionally in presidential elections. They're largely white and high school educated. Trump is targeting these voters this go around.

So, higher turnout might include them and make it a better environment for Republicans.

Previous, it was thought these voters leaned-Democratic and a big reason the party did well in presidential elections compared to midterms.

I'm not sure there is definitive proof either way now. In 2020, turnout was at a 100 year high...but Democrats barely won.

Likewise, turnout was higher in 2004 and 2016 compared to 2012 and Democrats lost those elections.
