I early voted by receiving my ballot in the mail on October 3 and returning it the next day to my county election commission. I have done this type of voting since 2014. I considered voting in person this year because of the monumental nature of this election (I also voted in person--twice--for Obama), but I was swept up by the drive and passion to cast my vote early for Harris-Walz (and Tony Vargas, Dan Osborn, et al). I also wanted to avoid any magat shenanigans that may occur at my polling place.
But now, I decided to be a poll watcher in 9 days because I saw the image below about a poll worker getting punched, and I watched the video below from Meidas Touch (they have been my favorite channel site this election cycle). I refuse to be bullied, and I refuse to let anyone else be assaulted. I am not a cop, but I can call the cops.
Besides beating Shitler (badly) at the polls in 9 days, we all must counter these types of fuckery by the magats, who have been empowered by their cult leader. We must start a new mantra in our country: MAKE AMERICA SANE AGAIN!

The video from Meidas Touch that infuriated me and gave me courage and power to take a stand.

I'm a poll worker in northern Wisconsin, and we are all anxious, but very determined.
Thank you for what you are doing.

(19,206 posts)In Ohio, if you want to observe inside the polling station, you have to be selected by a party, a group of candidates, or a group of people supporting an issue. You have to go to BoE at least 11 days before the day of the election and get a cetification to carry and show to the Voting Location Manager .
You have to be registered to vote in Ohio, but not necessarily in the county you are going to be in to observe.
Thank you for doing this. Means a lot

(1,207 posts)You are right, I have to be registered to vote in Nebraska, which I have been for many decades! 😊
There will be a training on Monday night. I'm actually excited!
I feel like this is me answering Kamala and Michelle's call to "do something."

As to Ohio - your information is not entirely correct. I normally receive my (Ohio) certification sometime between 8 PM the day before, and 5 AM of, the day of the election. The folks in charge normally decide at the last minute where I'm needed. They can appoint a limited number of rovers. So sometimes I'm tied to a specific precinct (at times as many as a dozen), and sometimes I'm a rover. (As a rover I can go to any precinct at least in my county - I think state-wide since I'm appointed by the Harris/Walz team, but I've never actually been sent beyond my county once early voting has ended. During early voting, I occasionally get sent to 3 different counlies).

Thank you for being a poll worker!

(38,399 posts)As there are very few Democrats in my Red county that are trained to be a poll worker, it's pretty much guaranteed that I get the 2nd shift.
