There seems to be a fatalism creeping in that Trump is going to win. The perception
is very different than in 2016.

His comments are a breath of fresh air. Let's hope he is correct.

So it would be hard to win and not have a larger margin.

https://www.huffpost.com/entry/stuart-stevens-trump-crash-prediction_n_66d684cde4b0f968d26d82c2

“Trump lost by 7 million votes [in 2020],” . . . “He needs new customers. What is he doing to attract new customers?”

Stevens said Trump has no new vision, promise or policy that brings new voters, which is why he is “stuck” at about 46% in polls, which is what he had in his losing 2020 campaign.

“I think the more likely scenario is that this race is gonna be close until maybe Oct. 20th, 25th, and then I just think the bottom’s gonna start to drop out for Trump because he’s not acquiring new voters,” he said. “This is what happened to Carter in ’80, and I think there’s a lot of similarities here.”

Politics, he said, requires addition ― but Trump isn’t doing anything to add new voters.

Personally, I feel that GOP cratering will start this week - when early voting is in full swing everywhere in the US, by mail, drop box or person.

There's also good news in that poll regarding Black and Latino men, and, of course, personal traits. Could be a sign of your prediction regarding GOP cratering.

It's the swing states that matter, though, and this view (and article) gives me hope we're doing better than other media would suggest.
