"SNIP..............

“Speaker Mike Johnson was taking in Donald Trump’s grievance-fueled closing rally at Madison Square Garden when the main actor onstage turned to him and drew him into the drama,” the New York Times reports.

Said Trump: “I think with our little secret we’re going to do really well with the House, right? Our little secret is having a big impact. He and I have a little secret — we will tell you what it is when the race is over.”

“This aside, delivered with a small chuckle, set off a frenzy among frightened Democrats who have been living with something akin to post-traumatic stress disorder caused by the last two presidential election cycles, and who are now primed to fear the worst.”

“In this case, the worst is very bad: It is a scenario in which Mr. Johnson, who worked with Mr. Trump to undermine the 2020 election results, would again be in cahoots with the former president to steal the election and stop the certification of the results on Jan. 6, 2025, should Vice President Kamala Harris win.”

Meant to traumatize Harris potential voters not to bother voting as their vote will not count.

Could Johnson refuse to reconvene Congress, thus stopping the certification process?

The new house will certify the results.

The new term begins on jan 3rd, and there will technically be no seated members or speaker. The seargent at arms will swear in the members and they will elect a speaker.

On jan 6th, the house will vote to certify the election.

Even if the gov is shutdown, essential operations will continue, which includes the house and senate.

I think we have a decent chance of picking up enough seats but I'm not betting my bank account on it. If they think they'll retain control, that could be a wrench they'd be happy to use.

And not just the 7 seats we need.

Turnout will be epic, and voters are pizzed. Polls are not looking for this, dont want to know about it, and would deny it if they could.

Add to that the tone deaf candidates the gop is fielding in blue and purple districts, and pickups are ripe.

Just my opinion of course. People still need to vote. But our side is motivated and their side keeps stepping on rakes.

opposed shutting down the government in September for fear of the chaos it would cause join with Dems to stop this as well? The chaos on the international markets this would cause could indeed trigger world depression. The stability of the US economy is tied directly to the stability of our national government.

I hope so, but sanity seems in short supply on the right.

I suspect it's less a secret and more of a concept of a secret.
