A Possible Cause of Trumps Mental Decline
October 28, 2024 at 2:59 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard
The disease is relentless and can remain dormant for 25 years before reemerging as cognitive impairment. Patients with neurosyphilis have often been confused with having other types of dementia.

I had said this about the felon to my cousin, who mentioned the felon's talking about Capone. (Also mentioned Idi Amin.)

(34,919 posts)Mostly in jest, but I wouldn't be surprised if it were really the case. That being said, one or more of a life-long shitty diet with no exercise, decades of drug abuse, and a family history of Alzheimer's disease are more likely to be the source of his mental decline. I'm sure the massive amount of stress he's under from all of his legal issues, with the specter of dying in prison, exacerbates it.

(113,989 posts)abnormalities (frequent Rt leg wide swing and not infrequent wide stance, near backward stance at the podium, and other manifestations), characteristic verbal and mental decline, and rate of progression are far more consistent with frontotemporal dementia. Short of seeing an MRI or post-mortem exam and in the absence of an actual well-trained neurologist we will likely not know the true etiology until he's dead and gone--if then. But, damn, if I wouldn't like to see the results of his MRI.
To try to confirm anything to neurosyphilis one would need not only that, but a cerebrospinal fluid tap--I rather doubt we'd see that performed, let alone results, ever. But, again, while I don't discount his potential for STD/STIs I don't think neurosyphilis fits clinically.

(26,199 posts)The guy doesn't sleep. He is likely taking ketamine plus God knows what else. But based on reports of loose prescriptions in his white house, we can guess lots of uppers. Painkillers, also possible. He is in the bloated Elivs stage of his political career.
