I mean, they had to know this was not going to be taken well by undecided voters. Could there possibly be a troll inside the orange blobfather's campaign? Or, did they just go for broke because they know they aren't going to win?
It just seems to me, that someone trolled the rnc.
Quit hitting me up with the Loomis comparison. I've never read or heard anything by her. I just thought it would be hilarious if someone in his inner circle would do this to him because it's exactly what he deserves because it has really tanked his approval with so many independent voters. So stop with that bullshit. It's not nice and is against tos.

(28,836 posts)They did try to distance themselves very quickly, probably as soon as they realized the backlash was intense.

(611 posts)As far as distancing, it seems to me a pretty weak attempt as to not offend his base.

(28,836 posts)So even a weak attempt is very telling. Damage control.

(611 posts)I have only been able to find campaign advisor Danielle Alvarezs comment that the joke doesnt reflect Trumps views. No denouncement and it seems that distancing mainly means putting it in the past without stating what his views exactly are. I guess any statement at all is something from the Trump camp.

(12,046 posts)It has been reported that the Trump campaign read the transcripts in advance and drew the line at him calling Harris c..t. Basically they were like ok we dont want to upset the evangelicals, pour on the racism and hate but watch the language. They know those jokes play to everyone in that room but they are not smart enough to realize the soundbites they are making outside of it.

(9,795 posts)Laura Loomer: Doesnt anyone think its weird how @KamalaHarris rolled out her policy on Puerto Rico the same day @TonyHinchcliffe told a joke at the Trump rally? Did the managers at @unitedtalent UTA leak Tony Hinchcliffes jokes? And if they did, did they do so because hes Pro Trump?
So you say it was a disgruntled employee and she blames it on the "comedian's" agent. You both come up with insane conspiracy theories to take the blame off of Trump himself. Trump and his team knew what the guy was going to say (they loaded it into the teleprompter) and they were perfectly fine with it. No, there was no conspiracy. what happened was a racist (Trump) intentionally hired a racist "comedian" to "entertain" at his rally because he knew that's the type of "humor" his supporters find funny.

(7,309 posts)I'm doing my desire for that to have happened. It would be really funny if it were true. Because I believe it is really going to piss off enough Latinos (and some others) to change the course of this election. It's been reported that one S. Florida Latina wanted to change her already cast vote for tfg, but unfortunately, she can't. So, I just think it would be funny if it were true.

(4,557 posts)Trump has been on Rogan, Theo Vaughn and Andrew Shultz and has had Tony Hinchcliffe host the MSG event. This is part of a strategy to appeal to a subsection of young (25-45) male voters who don't fit into the traditional left/right paradigm and feel largely disenfranchised by the current system. None of those comedians/podcast hosts fit into the traditional Republican corporate or religious right constituencies but are part of a newer alt-right that is less concerned with taxes, regulation, abortion or gay rights and instead is focused on what they see is an overreach of "Woke" or "PC" culture.
Anyone offended by Hinchcliffe wasn't voting for Trump before the MSG event and isn't voting for him afterwards. Trump is trying to mobilize those who aren't normally involved in team politics and aren't normally motivated to vote.
