I'm glad he is using the phrase "Latino" voters and not just Puerto Rican. That's a much more expansive voting block.
The former Fox News host told Latino voters that a vote for Trump is a vote against self-respect.

Geraldo Rivera, a former close friend of Donald Trump, issued a stark warning to Latino men who might be thinking of voting for the Republican candidate in the upcoming presidential election.
F--k these racists, the former Fox News host posted to X late Sunday. Latino men of good will, have pride in yourselves and your ancestors. A vote for Trump is a vote against self-respect. Along with a number of fascistic Trump comments from recent weeks, Riveras post specifically referenced remarks from podcaster Tony Hinchliffe who described Puerto Rico as a floating island of garbage at a Trump rally in New York City on Sunday.

Hope he is at least as disappointed as we all were after the vault hype from his media promoting something amazing inside the gangsters safe.

(36,631 posts)Geraldo Rivera saw Iraq first-hand as he accompanied the U.S. 101st Airborne in Iraq in March 2003, filing (generally positive) reports for Fox News, until he drew the ire of the military for potentially violating operational security with one of his reports:At 12:14 a.m. Eastern Standard Time [on March 31], Rivera narrated a report about the 101st Airborne that lasted more than three minutes. Crouching in the sand, he sketched an elaborate map with his finger, marking the location of the division he was traveling with. He also depicted the position of an alternate supply route constructed by U.S. forces about 10 miles west of the main highway between Kuwait and Baghdad.
Rivera was then expelled from Iraq (or voluntarily exited the country in order to avoid being expelled), but he soon returned (some sources maintain he never actually left, others that he was simply escorted across the border into Kuwait temporarily) after "admitting his mistake and receiving additional training from the Pentagon."

(14,725 posts)I guess Geraldo knows a thing or two about self-respect, having cashed FOX News paychecks for 22 years.
Good for him, I guess. It's just that I hate people who only finally do the right thing when it's THEIR ox being gored.

(15,368 posts)there to buy tickets for one of the shows. The show went on sale at 10:00 and she was rushing past people to get to the line to buy the tickets. Doing so, she bumped into a short man and knocked him to the floor. Instinctively, she bent down and picked him up and put him back on his pins - just like she would do, picking up one of our daughters when they fell.
Now, she realized what she did and embarrassed the guy as well as probably hurting him. Apologizing to him, she remarked that he looked like Geraldo Rivera.
"I am Geraldo Rivera."
So she then bursts out crying because she liked Geraldo and now she has completely embarrassed herself.
Geraldo responded by taking her to a cafe, buying her a cup of coffee and a muffin sitting down with her and reassuring her that it really was ok.

(230 posts)I remember Geraldo from the days when he hosted "Good Night America". I thought he was so cool and hip. Then over the years he devolved in to a cartoon character. Finally becoming a Trump friend and apologist, and Fox host. I am glad to see there is an ember in him that is now willing to speak up and redeem himself in some way. As they say, better late than never.
Early in his career he showed great potential. Copone's "vault" was a major gaff, it happens.
But he purposely chose to go the easy route to career success by selling out and going "conservative." That ended up w him being a Trump sycophant leading up to this.
He's right on this, thankfully. But like Colin Powell he has a lot he needs to do to make up for demeaning himself.

(2,710 posts)If he changes just one vote from Trump to Harris, then it's all good. Yes, he'll slink his way back to the other side like the sea slug he is if the unthinkable happens, but we can't worry about that right now. We have an election to win.
