Why have they not asked him about the million plus Covid deaths?

I am posting this article from 2021, old but still pertinent. It's about Putin.

Kremlin papers appear to show Putins plot to put Trump in White House
This article is more than 3 years old
Exclusive: Documents suggest Russia launched secret multi-agency effort to interfere in US democracy
Vladamir Putin personally authorised a secret spy agency operation to support a mentally unstable Donald Trump in the 2016 US presidential election during a closed session of Russias national security council, according to what are assessed to be leaked Kremlin documents.
The key meeting took place on 22 January 2016, the papers suggest, with the Russian president, his spy chiefs and senior ministers all present.
They agreed a Trump White House would help secure Moscows strategic objectives, among them social turmoil in the US and a weakening of the American presidents negotiating position.
Russias three spy agencies were ordered to find practical ways to support Trump, in a decree appearing to bear Putins signature.
By this point Trump was the frontrunner in the Republican partys nomination race. A report prepared by Putins expert department recommended Moscow use all possible force to ensure a Trump victory.
Western intelligence agencies are understood to have been aware of the documents for some months and to have carefully examined them. The papers, seen by the Guardian, seem to represent a serious and highly unusual leak from within the Kremlin.
The Guardian has shown the documents to independent experts who say they appear to be genuine. Incidental details come across as accurate. The overall tone and thrust is said to be consistent with Kremlin security thinking.
There is a brief psychological assessment of Trump, who is described as an impulsive, mentally unstable and unbalanced individual who suffers from an inferiority complex.
There is also apparent confirmation that the Kremlin possesses kompromat, or potentially compromising material, on the future president, collected the document says from Trumps earlier non-official visits to Russian Federation territory.
The paper refers to certain events that happened during Trumps trips to Moscow. Security council members are invited to find details in appendix five, at paragraph five, the document states. It is unclear what the appendix contains.
It is acutely necessary to use all possible force to facilitate his [Trumps] election to the post of US president, the paper says.
Various measures are cited that the Kremlin might adopt in response to what it sees as hostile acts from Washington. The paper lays out several American weaknesses. These include a deepening political gulf between left and right, the USs media-information space, and an anti-establishment mood under President Barack Obama.

(25,048 posts)Of course, asking Trump those questions would be a waste of time because he never answers any question. He pivots to wherever his "weave" takes him.
In addition, Trump would turn the question around to insult President Biden or other Democrats.
Trump is a waste of time, space and oxygen.

(18,567 posts)Used to be, it was politicians and celebrities who begged the newsies for coverage. But then along came the 24-hour news cycle, and the need to fill up the dead air at all times with hot takes. Capitalism 101: if a commodity becomes more available, the price (and hence the value) goes down. Any hack pol with a 13th-century mindset can get all the press his little heart desires now, it it the Press who has to scramble for access to the celebrities, which even though they too have been artificially inflated in number, have not increased so greatly in number compared to the insatiable need to feed the Press.

(12,412 posts)trump and GOPers would just reply that more people died after trump left office than before. Obviously there are rebuttals for that, but I think it would be an effective counter to Covid for anyone who might vote for trump.
Point is, there are lots of better things to ask trump about, like his Nazi love, NATO hate, Russian asset status, tariffs, and a lot worse.

(8,015 posts)His own Covid coordinator said he was responsible for 130,000 deaths, then raised her estimate. And Covid caused the inflation Kamala is getting killed over, and it was Trump's fault. I wish she would use it. I don't know why not.

How many needless Covid-19 deaths were caused by delays in responding? Most of them
https://www.statnews.com/2020/06/19/faster-response-prevented-most-us-covid-19-deaths/
And Trump made decisions knowing they would result in tens of thousands of deaths but made them anyway, hoping he could cover up the Covid problem.

(10,484 posts)their freedom to handle the famous Felon in ways that would be truly informative. They ask him questions that practically invite him to lie, and then they don't challenge the lie. There are clever ways to construct questions that would expose him for what he is.
The again, and it's not really the "free press" we deserve when ownership & control is dominated by RW billionaires and run on a system of click bait being necessary to attract readers.
Sadly, few people have the attention span to read more than a few paragraphs anymore. I'd like to see a study of how much anyone actually reads past the headlines, which are not controlled by the articles' authors and often distort the gist of the piece.

Honestly, I think they should all just ignore him completely. No interviews, very little press coverage, absolutely no videos of him or his minions.
Just one line: Day 3,424 of trump hell. He said something stupid at a rally in North Carolina. Thats all. Let him fade into obscurity until we can imprison him.

https://www.realclearpolling.com/polls/president/general/2020/trump-vs-biden
Biden led 209 of them
They tied two
Trump led in one by right leaning Rasmussen (by 1%)
So why does the guy who led 209 of the last 212 polls and had a polling average before the election of +7.2% (way beyond the margin of error) get accused of stealing the 2020 election?
