(8,823 posts)office after an ethics investigation, who has stratospheric unfavorable ratings, who was a serial cheater, was a lobbyist, has a half-million dollar tiffany's account or two, who started his candidacy in order to sell books and raise money, who's campaign staff quit en masse because they didn't want to work for a fake campaign, who has aesthetic challenges to overcome in a TV-oriented era where appearances are important, whose ex-wife has thrown him under the bus, who is not friendly to media, who is NOT the establishment pick even while he is an insider politician.... is seriously challenging for delegates and the nomination.
It either speaks to the weakness of the other gop candidates... or to the rabid insanity of gop primary voters and pundits who are willing to ignore a long list of warts that should disqualify one from the most powerful political office in the world in favor of a combination of adherence to the tea party doctrine and anger.

I had a friend who worked in Charleston for a while and was in contact somehow with the upper crust. When she heard the term, she asked if they were referring to Hurricane Hugo. I told her she was lucky to be alive.
