What he meant: (less the stutter)

Mr. Biden said Puerto Ricans are “good, decent honorable people.” Then he went on: “The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters' demonization of Latinos. It's unconscionable, and it’s un-American.”

The White House released a transcript that showed Mr. Biden was saying “his supporter’s” demonization, meaning that Mr. Hinchcliffe’s demonization was garbage.


What they heard and reported:

Mr. Biden said Puerto Ricans are “good, decent honorable people.” Then he went on: “The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters

. . . transcription error when President Biden, in his interview with George S., utilized proper words and perfect grammar in a particular sentence. The ABC News transcript incorrectly reflected that the President said "goodest" in that sentence.
