(27,686 posts)Seneca Falls Convention in 1848 was a meeting held for social, religious and civil rights for women. The Seneca Five were women that included Elizabeth Candy Statin, Lucretia Mott, Mary McClintock, Martha Wright and Jane Hunt. We are standing on a foundation fought hard for a long time to be treated as equals..thousands of Suffragettes we have to be thankful for even tho they were harassed, jailed but never gave up. So, now we are finally at a point in our history where a woman will possibly hold the highest office in the country and she and her supporters are getting the same hateful treatment from the opposition. The difference is..this is nothing new and were the granddaughters who have been tested for over a hundred years and with the support of our partners and other like minded men, were not going back! Weve heard it all before but were not gonna stop..not with this election or any election until we finally have equality in this country. For everyone. 💙

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
