Life after tRump...what is next

I am very optimistic that VP Harris will win this election. What truly concerns me is what is next? Who among the conservatives can replace the vacuum left by the Orange Anus? What does that even look like? How can you top bat-shit crazy? Who will the magats turn to?

1. Generally, people vastly overestimate the impact of individual political leaders

For the most part, politicians ride waves of popular sentiment and demographics and realtime events and the state of the economy, etc.

Most leaders are either lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time, or they are good at identifying the mood of the country and position themselves as the leader of the movement when actually, they are following the trend.

In the case of Donnie, the forces that enabled him will remain. Selfish billionaires will continue to corrupt the political process, bigots will continue to corrupt our society, ignorant fools will continue to ignore reality and science, and the media will continue to give the right wing far more airtime and credibility than they deserve.

If we win the trifecta, there's a lot we can do to restore democracy and constitutional protections. If we don't, republicans will prevent any legislation of consequence, and the media will portray president Harris as ineffective.

And if you think the right wing blew a gasket over a black man as president, wait until 4 or 8 years have passed with a black woman as president.

A *lot* has to go our way, and be accomplished in short order, to put the bigots back where they belong.

2. I can't think of anyone

Trump has a weird appeal to attract people in a cult-like way. Vance doesn't have that charisma, nor does Musk (and he can't run anyway, being from South Africa). Cruz isn't liked in his own Party. Still though, someone has to win the nomination in 2028. Maybe DeSantis.

Edit: I forgot about Byron Donalds, because I thought he was way younger. He's 46, and has exceptional debating skills. Not sure if he can rile up a crowd or not though.

But. As long as long as he is around, expect chaos. Unfortunately the antics are great for ratings and keeping people riled up. In the meantime, other overriding phenomena are marching right along. Enacting kindness and respect to and for all beings and ourselves seems very important to remember now, and in the future. And encourage/insist on the same from others we encounter.
