The ENDLESS emails asking for more money and always framed with a fear-based message.
Today's email from Harris-Walz HQ made me finally unsubscribe. The subject line was: "Unfortunately if the election were held today we could very well lose". WTF? That is not a motivating message and feels manipulative as well. Why why why do campaigns use these fear tactics?
I will continue to donate but, honestly, I really hate the constant fear-mongering as a way to bleed more money. I respond much more positively to a hopeful message. Like "We're on track to win this! Please help keep our momentum going". Not "hey, 3 days to go and we're going to lose unless you give money". Total turn off.

(5,167 posts)but this cycle, I've made liberal use of the "unsubscribe" option, usually in tiny, faint letters, at the bottom of those emails.

Be strong! We are almost through this. And, win or lose, we need to be able to carry on the fight for progress and justice.

(21,883 posts)I've donated, but I've had to block emails from every democrat from Maryland (my home state) to Oregon. They are cutting their own necks.
And it's the same with charities. The last time I donated to the ACLU the deluge from other causes started.
They need an opt out option on the original donation. More people might donate if the emails would stop.

(173,019 posts)I know I would donate more but I get turned off by the constant begging.

(2,101 posts)I absolutely agree. I've actually hesitated to donate at times because the more you donate the more "lists" you get on. It's relentless. I know that I would donate more if I wasn't deluged with emails asking for more more more.

(2,199 posts)This calendar was set up several months in advance of the election. It is a necessary evil, but giving to individual candidates is still the best way IMHO.

(2,472 posts)I received an email recently quoting the total I had donated. It was a LOT. It didn't cause me not to donate more, but it did cause me to pause a second and wonder haven't I done enough already.
