I love Kamalas energy, her vision for America, and her wisdom. But there is a part of me mourning that Joe Biden wont get the opportunity to finish what he started. He did win the primary, he was a strong candidate and everyone loves him . We can only hope that President Harris take the baton from him and uses his lead to extend her lead. Thank you President Biden for all you have done for this country. Please dont fade away because we still need you!

(6,474 posts)He set this stage, got things going, and gave us Kamala. Joe is amazing. We have been incredibly lucky to have had him in the White House this time and earlier with Obama, and before that in the Senate etc. This man leads with his heart.

(8,524 posts)Painful that he did so much for us, and the world, only to be cast aside like he isn't important.
As much as I admire and appreciate what Obama managed to do, the best of his administration was because of Joe Biden's influence and work.
I won't live to see the proper monument to Joe Biden, but if our nation survives the next few years, I have no doubt there WILL be such a monument to one of this nation's greatest public servants and leaders.

(27,489 posts)Especially for all his administration accomplished with her in the past 4 years.
Not a big deal, but when Kamala is expressing all that she plans to accomplish, she could say something like,
"I will continue to work to make America a better place for all Americans like Joe Biden has done over his 50 year career."
After all she is still part of his administration. It wouldn't hurt her and would be a small tribute to Joe Biden.

hold my breath every time Joe spoke to the press or addressed Congress...I'm 76 years old I knew it was a just a matter of time before the senior moments, glitches, and gaffs would collide..Joe is the greatest president of my lifetime and I will always be grateful for his leadership, his humanity but it was time for a new generation of Democrats to take the helm...time for a woman to sit at the Resolute Desk...

(2,687 posts)A landslide victory for Kamala will not change the sweet taste of Kool aid for many, and Joe Biden will still be President in their minds. I said that Joe Biden isn't running for President. So this person repeatedly claimed not to be an illiterate and said that there are books about the reconstruction that tell us what is currently going on in politics, and that I should read up on it. I couldn't help but press on with which author I should look for. That didn't go well. I guess I should have just accepted that Joe Biden is running for President?

(11,999 posts)Washington President Biden told Americans he's "not going away" after leaving the Oval Office in January, saying he plans to continue his foreign and domestic policy work. The president made the comment during an appearance on ABC's "The View" on Wednesday morning in New York City.
As he prepares to leave the White House following decades in public office, Mr. Biden said he will continue to work on domestic policy matters with the University of Delaware's Biden Institute and foreign policy matters with the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement in Washington, D.C. Both programs were established after he left the vice presidency in 2016. The Beau Biden Foundation, which works on behalf of vulnerable children in his late son's memory, has also been an important passion of the president and First Lady Jill Biden.
"I'm less concerned about what my legacy is," Mr. Biden, 81, told "The View." "Although I'm leaving, I'm not going away, because there's so many other things I want to do in terms of the Biden Institute on foreign policy, Biden Institute in Delaware on domestic policy, to keep the things going that we started. And I think we'll get it done."

(35 posts)As have my family and most of my friends. We are going out door knocking this afternoon and tomorrow evening and some are driving people to the polls on Tuesday. For us, the work is almost done. And that gives me time to reflect. Joe Biden is a dear person and great President. He will be missed by so many.

(35 posts)And regardless of Tuesdays outcome, there will always be that question mark. I feel that all this would be moot if Al Gore and won his election. We would all be in a better place. Not giving in or up, we have just over 72 hours to go, lets do this for Joe and our country!

(52,571 posts)Kamala Harris is one of the best presidential candidates I've seen in my lifetime. I really think she is better than Obama on the campaign trail which is saying a lot, but I also would have liked to see Joe finish his work. The way he was pushed out still stings for me, plus the fact that so many people haven't given him the credit he deserves for an extraordinary job.
This is rather a bittersweet moment for me.

Because, I have been a student of presidential campaigns since the days of FDR, and have voted in every election since 1976. I volunteered for the Obama campaign in both '08 and '12, and have been a democratic donor since Obama's first campaign, I can say that I have NEVER seen a more effective, more flawless campaign than the one Harris is running.
I literally have never seen anything like the speed at which the Democrats have coalesced, and under the leadership of Harris have created a juggernaut that will likely win by upwards of 8-10 million votes. I'm thinking Harris will pull away and end up with over 350 electoral votes.
I also believe we will handily take the House, and likely maintain a narrow majority in the Senate.
Make no mistake - women are going to save this republic for the next fifty years. I just attended a special Noetic Sciences group, and people all over the world are focusing their intent on a Harris victory (I did not use the word 'prayer' though that is a big part of it, for what is prayer but focused intent?).

(406 posts)Joe will be tested more than any other president in history.
He will have to be very strong and courageous to do whatever has to be done to save the country from the planned Trump attacks on our Democracy and rule of law.
Fortunately, the Supreme Court's "get out of jail free" card, designed for Trump, will give Joe unlimited power in those efforts..
When Kamala is declared the winner, I expect President Biden to warn all who would try to overturn the election, that such activity will be considered criminal, and will not be tolerated.
I hope Biden won't hesitate to issue multiple Executive Orders to use all presidential power to fight those--foreign and domestic--who would attempt to harm us..

(8,836 posts)major battles that nobody thought could be won. One of his last major steps has gotten so little recognition. The apology to indigenous peoples for the US policy of the boarding schools. We all know it doesn't erase what happened or make up for things. But the fact that the American President openly apologized and said it was wrong was an important gesture of acknowledgement and contrition for what was done and extended an increased acceptance of responsibility for the horror, grief and sorrow caused.
