I'll be forced to re-write the chorus:
And I'm proud to be an American,
Where it's Buy One, Get One Free,
And it's Equal Justice Under Law
(for folks that look like me),
And I'll proudly stand here safe at home
While you serve her far away,
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land,
God save the NRA!

(70,376 posts)... at a July 4th fireworks display, people stood for that jingoistic crap and not for the National Anthem.
It was just a beautiful evening, in a nice old picnic/fair grounds. And it was just a nice place to be. We had home fried chicken and potato salad, the kids were having fun. The fireworks were good and then at the finale, they played that stupid song loud enough to drown out the fireworks.
Like someone brought a skunk to tea. Just about ruined the whole experience.
