Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsIt's starting! At 5pm tonight I am due at my precinct's voting site to help set up
and I have to be back at 6am tomorrow morning. This post isn't informative, or helpful, it's just me freaking out with excitement!

(18,690 posts)It's people like you who will make this hopefully historic week possible. I'll be thinking positive thoughts for you and everyone else who is working on the logistical aspects of this election.

(23,612 posts)In New York, I have to be at the polling site at 5 AM to set up for polls opening at 6 AM.
(that means I'm up at 3:30 AM)
Polls close at 9 PM, then we have to close shop according to protocols and call in results. If chosen for my team and voting machine, I have to take the big blue rolling bag full of materials to the drop off point (city hall) and sign off.
Which means I won't be back home 'till around midnight, then I'm going straight to bed and sleeping for 10 hours. No TV, no social media, etc.
I'm in a suburban part of a city, so (knock on wood) no real drama will happen. And the weather is supposed to be partly cloudy no precipitation, so that helps.

(744 posts)I'll be on the same path tomorrow. There will only 3 of us judges in extremely red Illinois county, I will be the lone Democrat. Should be interesting. I'm going to attempt to count women vs. men who voted.

(53,398 posts)I am working tomorrow as an observer in south western Wayne County. Expect a long day but shouldn't be hugely crowded since we had so much early voting.

(31,310 posts)I think about y'all all the time. Are you recovering pretty well? My counselor lives up there and he marked himself safe at the time of the storm but I have not heard from him since.

(14,096 posts)If there's a source of stress that I can't control and it's suddenly relieved, I always get a migraine. One time I was worried about whether I had any blocked arteries because my doctor thought I had had a TIA and I was anxiously awaiting my ultrasound. During the procedure the technician told me I was clean as a whistle. I was so relieved that the next day I had a migraine. The mechanism is sort of a state-change for my brain chemistry, I guess. I expect that this Wednesday I may have the "mother of all migraines" but that's okay. That's really okay.

(23,185 posts)I'm signing in at 5:30 a.m. tomorrow in Washington County, Ohio! In training, the instructors said that law enforcement will be patrolling the county all day, and won't be more than 5 minutes away from any of the polling places, in case there is a serious issue called in. It is a shame we have to be alert, but glad the B.o.E. and law officers are taking potential problems seriously. And really proud of people serving their country tomorrow
