(57,313 posts)And why are you disclosing them? Surely that violates whatever oath you took.

(2,922 posts)I'm opening ballots so they can be counted. I have no idea who wrote in the candidate, nor what party they claim if any. I also saw some write-ins for Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Santa Claus, and "Any Sane Person."
This type of anecdotal evidence violates no election laws.
Retrograde
(11,370 posts)I realize that election procedures vary from location to location, but I'm leery of your statement that "it violates no election laws". I think it shows a lack of maturity, and worse, may open your county and maybe even state to a legal challenge if Donnie loses there. At best, it opens the process to accusations of sloppy handling of election materials. Remember-the GOP will jump on any perceived irregularity to claim fraud/voter intimidation/election interference.
After the results for your location have been certified feel free to regale us with election tales. Before that, I recommend keeping your observations to yourself.

Voter Privacy
Poll workers should be trained to respect a voters privacy. Voter privacy is not only a courtesy; it is a legal requirement. Training should emphasize the importance of voter confidentiality and clearly detail procedures for handling each ballot to ensure each voters privacy is protected. (§ 2300(a)(4), California Constitution, art. II, § 7)

Mister Ed
(6,786 posts)I think they must be lifelong Republicans who will not vote for the traitor, the felon, the rapist that their party has nominated, but can't quite bring themselves to vote for a Democrat.
Or maybe some of them are wives who want to be able to honestly tell their domineering MAGA husbands, "Yes dear, of course I voted for Republicans only".

(2,922 posts)But... we can always hope! I do have a feeling we're gonna see a lot more defections this time around on the R side than D, but only time will tell.

(2,922 posts)There's an x you can press for that. Guess what, people are writing in all kinds of stuff in protest, just like they do every election. This is really not bombshell top secret atuff. Do a quick Google search and you'll find a story or two speculating on what traditional Republican voters might be doing this time around. Sorry to have offended your sensibilities with my post. I can assure you it's not gonna be a regular thing, but don't ask me to self-delete because I am not letting turkeys get me down.
iemanja
(57,313 posts)but you're an election official. The poster is right. It's not cool, not because we don't want to read it but because ballots are according to the constitution secret.

(2,922 posts)I have divulged no personal information, nor do I even know who wrote what on any ballots (not that I would even try to find out).
