My grandson, senior at FGCU in Fort Meyers drove 4hours home tonight to the Keys because they didnt get his
mail in ballot to him at the dorm in time and he wanted to vote! And because they canceled school in the Keys tomorrow because of hurricane winds and school busses (no worries, just a safety rule), we are all off tomorrow and will have the day with him.
Took him and a friend to DQ for supper and ice cream and filled up his tank, after voting. Guess I have to let his folks have a little time with him.
Hes a GOOD BOY! I brought him up right.
That's fab! Rain day in Fort Myers. Fingers crossed

(77,303 posts)At least he didn't have to go through those Lower Keys at night.
We did that once. 35mph all the way through Big Pine & Bahia Honda.
Landed in Miami at 11:30; got to Key West at 3:15am!
Never did that drive again.

(10,333 posts)Im glad I went in person to early vote. I was afraid that something would happen on Election Day - even though its very Republcan. I was afraid of a bomb threat being called in on Election Day. I guess I was off by one state - Georgia.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
