To my friends in the US..

That excludes any of the dumb fucking c*n*t* who voted for the authoritarian Putin loving Mango Mussolini. I turned the telly off an hour or so ago because it was so stressful. How can do many Americans be so fucking stupid and /or hateful? If he wins, are you honestly proud that a cognitively impaired rapist with the worst orange face make up is what you chose to represent the US to the world? Even former conservative PMs here have said what a piece of crap he was

I hope US democracy can survive this

And I hope that those in the US who voted for Dementia Don suffer horrendously under his authoritarian regime. I wish nothing but the worst for them, but worry about my rational friends who didn't vote for him.

If our species lasts that long or civilization or any kind. The biosphere is going to kill us off in the next ten years or less.

We have let the world down. Voters have given away democracy, and any responsibility to the planet.
Only a miracle can get us out of this. I don't know what that would look like.

I've drunk a bottle of Riesling with my neighbour, so hope I make sense. *You* (Americans who voted for Harris) haven't let anyone down. I feel so bad for all of you. I always used to think the US and France led the fight for democracy but the US has shown that democracy doesn't matter.

Putin and other authoritarian leaders will be celebrating right now

and that it can't survive intensive bombardment by false media

Freedom of speech was the cornerstone of democracy--it seemed if the truth could be told we'd survive. But it's become a sword
and a right to tell lies on a mass scale because we never learned how to set enforcable standards with electronic media.

We don't have any enshrined freedom of speech thing, but I feel my freedom to say whatever the hell I want is less limited than in the US. What makes our democracy strong is a system where federal elections across a continent a similar size to the US is uniform because it's run by an Independent, non partisan electoral commission. Mandatory voting also reduces all the voter suppression that happens in the US. Plus our political parties respect democracy and the major parties have always conceded gracefully if they've lost

.I personally think it's time for Australia to start looking for alliances elsewhere. I did read an article.that said an alliance between Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the EU would be pretty formidable. .

I fear that there is no on to rescue us like we rescued Germany from Hitler. And I fear what Putin will do to Europe with Trump on his side. So please, those of you still in democracies, stay strong for us.
