Remember when TSF said he didn't need any more votes, they had it all figured out? How many
provisional ballots are out there not being counted?

(4,159 posts)and have been in every Trump election, along with the downballot races.
I haven't trusted voting machines since Bush/Kerry, but there's never any way to know, or prove anything even if you have a case. But I notice that everything Trump accusses us of he is doing, so I'm sure he has at lease explored corrupting the voting machines.

(23,870 posts)Mitch McConnell's Kentucky uses them and he's never lost an election even when he was unpopular.
Same with Susan Collins.
Plus the factory that makes them will not work with anybody who wants to look into them to insure
they are safe.

(4,159 posts)I'm for hand counting as they have in Germany with reliable exit polls that give accurate results on election night while they wait the 2 weeks to hand count the ballots. Of course there aren't segments for German population refusing to answer exit polls based on propaganda. Hiring counters is not more expensive than our voting machines.
Yes hand counting can be compromised but not on the scale as machines, so less likely to sway an election in one direction and more likely to be discovered.
Susan Collins won an election (2020) polls said she would lose.
We know about Republican attemps to access and share codes for machines (Georgia and Colorado), why do we assume there aren't attempts that we don't know about? I know polls aren't perfect, wish I could see the exit polls which are much more accurate, but the several point shift point to Trump in every election is suspicious to me and I really don't buy the shy Trump voter theory

(23,870 posts)I don't remember anyone on the tube tonight talking about exit polls. Or is my mind just in a daze?

(4,159 posts)They were damaged when 2004 exit polls showed Kerry winnning in 16 states, then in the wee hours of the morning shifted to Bush. Statisticians said the odds of that were some number so small it essentially meant none, without shenanigans.
Everyone assumed the exit polls were flawed, not the vote totals. I think the exit poll company that did Florida for Bush vs Gore went out of business, the public assuming that the exit poll that called it for Gore early in the evening must have been wrong, not the vote totals.
I don't know if exit polls have been supressed since then so much as access to them. They used to get leaked. Kerry thought he'd won the election. Exit polls are accurate compared to other polls. Germany used them to call elections while they waited 2 weeks to count by hand in 2004, don't know what they do now. I've wished since 2004 we could compare vote tallies to exit polls to see if they match, but I havent been able to find anything for each state, only stats for demographics. They don't want to stir the pot. Even though exit polls have been used by the Carter Center to keep 3rd world countries honest in their elections. The assumption by Dems and Republicans alike seems to have been that we don't need that.
