General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsWe will have to figure out ways to take care of each other now,
because our federal government sure as hell won't do it - in fact, the lives of many people will be made much worse. So it will fall upon our own domestic NGOs - charities, some liberal churches and other faith and civic organizations, and whatever we as individuals can do to protect the people most likely to be harmed. Some states are already safe places - at least for now - for reproductive health care and the protection of trans people. Minnesota now has a Dem majority in the state senate and might pick up one more state house seat, and Tim Walz will still be our governor. We also have two Democratic senators. For now, at least, it might be a safe place to live, but if Trump and Vance try to bigfoot what states do, who knows what will happen. In the meantime, if you're in a red state that just got worse, you can come here for help, and you can help us keep our state safe.
In those states that are already bad places for some people - women and LGBTQ people especially - we will have to organize and find ways to protect and help those who need it.

(130,810 posts)I'm trying to figure out how to squeeze a few drops of lemonade out of some very sour lemons. And the only thing I can think of right now is to double down on charity and altruism. It's all we can do right now. Fight back by caring for the people who need it.

(17,650 posts)Just built a cat sanctuary here that I had dreamed of having for many years and could never leave them all behind. Otherwise, I would leave the country.
I hope someone can help us because I just dont know if I can survive this.

(130,810 posts)It must be at least somewhat comforting to have them to love and take care of. You will find good people to help you, even in Texas. But I am so sad for all of us.

(23,730 posts)This Country can not afford a dictator in the White House who want's to get rid of the U.S. Constitution,
install himself as king, jail his political opponents or put them in front of firing squads, and yes send our
Army, Navy & Air Force to go help Russia fight Ukrainians.
Time to jail him and everyone involved with Jan 6th before he jails or shots you for being a political
adversary. Come on President Biden do some official acts with immunity while you still can, the
Joint Chiefs of Staff will back you up. If need be jail 6 Supremos so a Liberal court will agree with
you on anything that needs done.
We had one coup attempt 4 years ago and voters aren't holding that against the big cry baby. Go ahead
and jail the people who want to jail people who disagree with them.

(23,730 posts)Biden had better pull a rabbit out of the hat before we all go down the rabbit hole with Putin's blessing.
There's no doubt in my mind Russia flooded the swing States with propaganda again.
We should not be the nice guys and concede this election (TSF never conceded 2020), need to arrest
everyone involved in Jan 6th coup quietly all on the same day, and keep reporters away from them.
Call it a war on Fascism or Terror. DO NOT CONCEDE!
