I just watched it the other week and that sounds like the song they played at the end of the movie.

I just Googled the soundtrack and it IS the song I heard...

The Falcon and the Snowman
"This Is Not America" is a song by English singer David Bowie and American jazz fusion band the Pat Metheny Group, taken from the soundtrack to the 1985 film The Falcon and the Snowman. It was released as a single in February 1985, reaching number 14 in the United Kingdom and number 32 in the United States.

says "This is not who we are!" in response to some bad event, like a mass shooting. Sadly, it is who we are. We are a country where the unrestricted ownership of guns is considered more worthy of protection than the lives of children in their schools. It's a country where police officers can abuse people, usually people of color, with only the rarest consequences - I used to think the convictions of George Floyd's killer cops was an indication of progress, but now I realize that it was just an anomaly. It's a country that disrespects women so much that they are left to bleed out in hospital parking lots because some men have decided that breeding is a good thing that must be enforced, even on raped ten-year-olds. And now we - or half of us, anyhow - have decided that it's just fine to have a president, the head of state who represents us to the rest of the world, who has been convicted of 34 felonies, is a serial adulterer and adjudicated rapist and chronic sex pest, whose businesses committed repeated fraud, who defames and insults people and who has become so mentally unstable that he can barely put a coherent sentence together and thinks it's cool to simulate fellatio at a rally. If half of us think all this depravity and dysfunction is OK for a president, then this is exactly who we are. This IS America. And it's just heartbreaking to have to acknowledge it.

that half of Americans voted for Trump because he hates the same people who I hate. Overlooking the fact that another American voted for Trump because they hate me and so does Trump.

I have known what "America" is since Raygun. My first election was in1980 at 18 years old. My entire family is DEM. I have learned that nothing ever changes, everything stays the same.

This is why I am not at all surprised by tonight's news. Mentally I have known this is what America represents and have accepted the horrid truth long ago. "America sucks" has been my rant for a loooooong time.
