It'd be great if everyone here looked back at the news sources you've consumed over the last several months and identify which ones were "blowing smoke"...
IMHO, a veritable army of clickbait content creators LIED incessantly about the campaign and those involved.
Review your sources that you rely on to view the world accurately and "fire" the ones who lied to you.
Look at their past postings. Were they making up shit out of thin air... just to produce catnip to generate clicks from YOU?
Were you used?
Get even.
*The more shocked you are by today's events... the more these folks propagandized you.

(50 posts)You are 100% correct, but the vast majority of our country believes just because it says "news", that its fact (or conversely, propaganda for one side or another). We truly do not have a media that presents facts and asks the hard questions - it's all corporate or political opinion designed to push a narrative, thinly disguised as "News".
I will be back later.

I'm mad...mostly at myself for being taken in.
I don't think anybody ignored the fact the polls were within the margin of error. Judgement about the accuracy of modeling was always a crapshoot. I for one believed pollsters were over-sampling trump voters to correct for errors in 2016 and 2020 and thought the dynamics were the opposite -- that when it came down to it, some just wouldn't be able to stomach voting for him. But that was always a judgement call that I knew full well could be wrong.
And frankly, I think those dynamics were playing out. The real question mark was how effective their voter suppression tactics would be. The answer? Very effective.

(46,142 posts)Let's face a hard truth: while I think the large majority of DUers recognized that the election could be won or lost, there also were a lot of wildlly over-optimistic predictions being made here on DU. The folks making those predictions need to step back and consider whether there was ever any real factual underpinnings for their predictions.

(132,214 posts)chances on the DU there would be a pile on me. After a month of that I shyed away from posting those polls. Around the time I stopped posting the negative polls out came a conspiracy theory that the GOP polls were propaganda to push the narrative Trump was winning so they could claim malfeasance when Trump lost.
It was everywhere. We were the ones hyped up on the conspiracy theory.
