https://theconversation.com/secession-is-here-states-cities-and-the-wealthy-are-already-withdrawing-from-america-200813This could work both ways. One of the things I am extremely grateful for at the moment is that I live in Chicago, in Illinois, in a state where Democrats have supermajorities in the legislature and pretty much do what they want. I suggest we get together with other states in the same boat, and do what several southern states have done, shut out the feds and tell them we're not going to enforce any laws the Constitution says we don't have to. Florida's done it. So has Texas.
Let's take our constitutional states rights to the limit for the next four years.

Our enemies (especially the Russians) know that, and work ceaselessly to divide us.
Now they have their agent of division and destruction back in the driver's seat.

However, I'm pretty sure that it's a one-way street when it comes to states actually leaving the Union. Then again, IANAL or a Constitutional scholar--but I am pretty sure that the lawyers and scholars have weighed in on this repeatedly. (Not to mention, we also fought a war over it).

(6,902 posts)We won't enforce a federal abortion ban, we let our business buy around the tariffs. Like they refused to enforce or participate in gay marriage, or ignored the covid mandates. Join hands with other states, California, Oregon, Washington, New Mexico, Colorado, etc. and make it stick.
