Well..... Will there be a National Recount of this election ASAP?

Last edited Thu Nov 7, 2024, 12:56 AM - Edit history (1)

Update to this OP:

Biden has Super Powers and Immunity.... This in my opinion is a National Security Issue...Essentially an attack on America ....

This election/voting counting just didn't go " naturally"...in my opinion.

We really need to demand a National recount.... Hand-visual recount....

Who here supports this demand and if so, how do we have the Democratic Party to proceed?

Recounts are regulated and conducted by the states. In some states a recount is automatic if the margin between two candidates is less than a certain amount; in other states the candidate has to request one.

As we should all know by now, election issues are administered by the states. It's unlikely any states are going to end up close enough to warrant a recount.

A voter can't just demand that the governor order a recount. There are specific rules governing when a recount can be held, who can ask for one, who pays for it, etc.

So your 'best path' is really no path at all.

NCSL Brief on Recounts
https://www.ncsl.org/elections-and-campaigns/election-recounts

There are usually mechanisms for candidates to seek a recount, but I'm a little vague on whether a coalition of voters would have standing to sue for a recount or some such on general grounds (and if they could, they would probably have to pay for it.) Groups who have a case that they were wrongfully disenfranchised certainly have standing to bring a case to remedy the wrong, but that typically addresses some subset of ballots/issues.

It seems there is little will within the party to take a hard look, but perhaps it is there. I for once certainly hope that as county canvasses are completed, individuals or organizations from within or outside look for red flags and take steps to ensure ballots have not been improperly rejected or that provisional ballots have been properly counted, and . . . I don't know what else needs looking at.

Except for a few close races where the margin is under .5%, there won’t be any recounts.

No recounts at all in the presidential race, since Harris has conceded.

Becoming such a common misconception of what SCOTUS said.

The only thing to add is that it would be tens of thousands of people- and most of them just voted for the other guy. And (as mentioned above), state law controls, so even liberal secretaries of state would reject the order.

They are handled state by state.
And the fact that you don't think the election went "naturally" but offer absolutely no indication of what causes you to think that other than the fact that we lost isn't grounds for a recount of any state's elections at this point.
