(3,209 posts)just face the facts that a majority of American voters are dopes.

(6,606 posts)word? Too many things just don't add up. we need some recounts. Everywhere I went for 3 weeks the lines were long. record
turnouts everywhere, now we are told that the democrats just stayed home, something is fishy.

(3,209 posts)In order to cheat, it would have to be in all 50 states who worked independently from each other.
Trump outperformed his vote totals in nearly (if not all) 50 states, including New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maryland and New Jersey.
the posted exit poll would have to be in on the scheme.
There is far more proof that a majority of American voters are dopes, than any half-baked conspiracy theory.

(3,209 posts)that was up 3 points for Trump from 2020 (pre-Dobbs).
And there are posters on this site blaming misogyny for our defeat? Give me a break.
I'm not saying that misogyny doesn't exist, but if women voted in their own best interest (60% Harris) we would have won in a landslide.

(11,467 posts)That those sluts having sex need to be punished with babies and thats why she voted for Trump.
There is a good example of misogyny coming from a fellow woman.

(12,379 posts)One term to define it is "ladder pullers" (think Amy Coney Barrett or Thomas' wife (forget her name). These are women who get where they are and then pull up the ladder behind them by defending the patriarchy. A modern term is "pick me girls". More technically, it's called internalised misogyny. It's a thing.
But, like critical race theory, it's not commonly taught outside of highly theoretical legal and other academic contexts. It's absolutely a thing.

(3,209 posts)it certainly makes winning an election with a women heading the ticket all that much more difficult.
There has been a female elected as a head of state in the Philippines, Great Britain, Italy, New Zealand, Israel, India and many others. Is this phenomenon particular to the United States?

(69,647 posts)America has myths that say we were founded by rugged individualist men, building a democracy from the wilderness. This is a potent and very appealing myth. It leads Americans - men and women - to admire brash white men. There is strong cultural pressure to choose them as leaders.
Yes, I think it's a U.S. thing.
I'm thinking that even Pakistan has had a female head of state, freely elected, and that's a majority Muslim country.
You mean putting a woman in charge of the government is more acceptable in Pakistan than America?
Now, I really can't get my head around it. I not only personally find a woman acceptable as a President, but all things being equal, I'd prefer it.
I've run into men who are misogynist, but I haven't ever heard a woman tell me she can't vote for a woman

(69,647 posts)Some of it is subtle, some blatant. Women can be vicious to one another.

(5,554 posts)back in the 90's. "It's the economy stupid." Most people aren't educated enough about the economy and don't understand how it works. The press wasn't reporting enough on price gouging or all the things President Biden did to improve the economy. As a video that was posted in another thread proves, they also don't understand the consumer ultimately pays the tariff because the seller passes it on to them.
That's not even as bad as they fact that they don't notice that almost every time a Republican gets in office and uses the trickle down economics theory we go into a recession and a Democrat has to come in and save our asses, but then we get temporary inflation, people blame the Democrats and the whole dumb ass cycle starts all over again.
There is a lot I don't understand about the economy but I'm just remembering what my high-school economics teacher and my college economics professor said. Strangely enough the college professor was a Republican who thought trickle down economics was complete bunk.

(13,913 posts)Apparently this country of primarily white, and other, men cannot vote for a woman, not to mention a Black-Indian woman at that.😕
I truly believe that is the reason why Kamala did not win. Her campaign was amazing and she is so eminently qualified. Apparently that's not enough and the ignorant half of this country would prefer a decrepid, demented felon over her.
I've been so sad and angry like the rest of you. BUT we need to soldier on. We cannot give into the despair. We live to fight for the country another day, another 4 years.

(69,647 posts)Black voters supported Harris at about the same levels as they supported Biden in 2020. White voters actually shifted slightly away from Trump.
Hispanic voters swung heavily in favor of Trump compared to 2020, and young voters swung toward Trump somewhat as well.
If there was a messaging failure it was to Hispanic/Latino voters. They are not a cohesive bloc.

(14,295 posts)Biden got over 80 million votes in 2020. Harris got 68 million in 2024.
Trump got 71 million votes in 2020. He got 72 million in 2024.
Anyone notice the difference here?

(10,438 posts)That is because exit polls are based on the electorate as a whole and that won't be finalized until a few weeks from now once all the votes are counted.
I remember people using initial exit polls to blame black voters for Democratic underperformance recently, but once you revisited those updated exit polls towards the end of the year, they showed a completely different story.
