This is straight up BS Biden was the most-pro worker President of my life time- saved Union pensions, created millions of good paying jobs and even marched in a picket line and some of MVPs plans would have fundamentally transformed the quality of life and closed the racial wealth gap for working people across this country. From the child tax credits, to 25k for a down payment for a house to Medicare covering the cost of senior health care in their homes. There are a lot of post election takes and this one aint a good one.

It should come as no great surprise that a Democratic Party which has abandoned working class people would find that the working class has abandoned them.
While the Democratic leadership defends the status quo, the American people are angry and want change.
And theyre right.

(1,495 posts)Why not just form a circular firing squad. We literally have working class people essentially voting against benefits they currently enjoy because of Dems like Biden.

radicals era? It didn't work to get you the Dem nomination both times you ran so give it a rest.
And btw, the white working class mostly left during the moral majority/Reagan Democrats era.
Haven't you heard? Get off campus and look around.

(11,461 posts)of having to be the most anti-change candidate possible (except for Biden himself).
I think the work Biden did (particularly through Sanders and Warren) on domestic economic policy and labor was fantastic - but our messaging on it is all wrong.

(71,542 posts)the early 80's when steel went caput ( and other really dire years times) I saw folks get in their cars and leave their homes in the midwest it looked like something out of the depression... shut the door and left. This is a good economy and those who don't understand what a bad economy looks like will soon find out under Trump. The idea that the president control the price of groceries was alway stupid. I sincerely hope that those who supported and voted for Trump have the worse of it. They deserve it. And I hope they may smarten up a bit.

(18,714 posts)No President EVER, has been more pro-union than Joe Biden. He walked the picket lines with them and he preserved their pensions. For Bernie to come in after the election and drop this turd of a post is not just incendiary and short sided, it's just plain wrong.
I admit to being a Bernie supporter in the past. I have supported his positions and opinions long before the 2016 primaries. I would counter his post by asking, what more could Harris have done to win over the "working class"?? It's not like the working class and unions were ignored during this campaign!
The fact of the matter is white folks, of all backgrounds, decided that a return to the Trump era was best. Look at the breakdown of voters and tell me I'm wrong. According to CNN exit polling the top four demographics that voted for Harris were Black Women, Jewish women, Black Men, and Jewish men...in that order. White folks decided that they weren't happy with the economy and voted for the fascist.
