I'm not saying that race wasn't a factor for anyone, but that's only a 2 percent increase in white voters for Trump. It's entirely plausible that those are Biden-Trump voters who were unhappy about higher prices and took it out on the top of the ticket.

Then why did people who make less then $30,000 per year break for Democrats 50 to 46 when they are the group that would be more negatively affected by higher prices then anyone?

Per the 2020 exit polls, they broke for Dems 59-38, so they dropped 17 points.

Also this exit poll shows Democrats lost Urban Whites 51 to 49. A loss, but that's a whole lot closer to a jump ball then any other group of white voters. I going to assume Democrats did better with them in 2020 too. Makes me think we wasted a bunch of time going after suburban and rural whites a more aggressive outreach to Urban whites would been a better strategy to find white support. I don't think there is any significant Biden/Trump crossover. I think it's more likely they just didn't show up.

Not only... but let's compare the numbers

The ones cited above are very close to 2020. What changed is that in 2020 47% of the voters rated the economy as "not good" or "poor".

This time around it was 73% and they went overwhelmingly for Trump. White voters made up slightly less of the electorate but voted slightly more for Trump. A much smaller impact than views on the economy.

While Black voters were less likely to vote for Harris than they voted for Biden. And Women were slightly less likely to support her than Biden

The problem with your theory is that is isn't based in reality. White men were two percent more likely to vote for Trump against Harris as they were for Biden. White women were also two percent more likely.

The problem here - is that Georgians in general were two percent more likely to vote for Trump in 2024 than in 2020.

17. The abortion statistics are far more interesting than race
Fri Nov 8, 2024, 05:56 PM
Nov 2024

The proportion of the electorate that said that abortion should be legal in all/most cases increased substantially from 52% to 62%

But it did not sway vote selection more significantly. Only 29% of the "should be legal in most cases" voters favored Trump in 2020... but 48% of that group supported him this time around. While the (smaller) proportion that opposed abortion actually increased their support (by about 10%) for Trump this time.

One state and limited data - but if confirmed this could support the theory that Dobbs' sending the issue back to the states is changing it's impact on national races.

Since the "legal" side increased so much there must have been a lot of Trump voters changing their mind on abortion but clearly not on Trump. Who knows if that's because they believe Trump won't implement extreme abortion restrictions or they simply don't prioritize the issue enough to change their vote.

Nov 2024

45 percent of the country said they're worse off than they were 4 years ago, 75 percent said they've suffered personally from higher prices and inflation over the last 12 months.

I'm smart enough to know everything Biden and the Democrats have done to get costs and inflation down, but when that many people are hurting, they take it out on the top of the ticket.

2% better with white people overall... 71% (2024) vs 69% (2020). Probably within the MOE of the exit poll which isn't given.

white women 69% (2024) vs 67% (2020) Trump did 2% better
white men 71% (2024) vs 72% (2020) Trump did 1% worse
