Not only will it help our immuno-compromised friends, but it is also a subtle act of resistance. It would also help us find each other. The masks could be our version of MAGA hats, only that we love and not hate.

symbol, my Ankh. I politely told him that it was an Egyptian glyph for life. He insisted that wasn't true, that it was satanic, because he had seen it on tv. At that point I laughed, and asked if he believed that pee wee herman was real (this was a VERY long time ago!). Then he said, smugly, "Sorry I upset you"". I laughed again, and replied, "Oh, honey, you are far too ignorant to upset me", and watched him storm off.

(2,071 posts)I need to protect him. I have noticed it is hard to find anyone else wearing one. Went to the grocery store today. It was packed and not a single mask.

(1,325 posts)I always wear one when I am indoors in a public place. To my surprise, I haven't had any negative comments about that. Surprised.

You know, I can see dumb dipshits like Govs. Abbott and DeSantis outlawing them.

(5,545 posts)Good for you!
15 months ago I wasn't wearing a mask. I was vaxxed and boosted, I have Asperger's so social distancing is my superpower, I kept track of how long I was in stores, there was no reported outbreak in my area (thanks, DeSantis), I thought I was OK.
But from 20 minutes in the grocery store I got covid and it almost killed me. My strength and stamina still are no where near what they were. My mental abilities are noticeably diminished.
Stay safe. In an authoritarian system we must take every precaution.
