(44,738 posts)I gave heartily and happily this year. But No Mas. At least for now.
Every time you get a request from DNC or whomever, send a few bucks to the Red Cross or a favorite charity of yours. Just a thought.
I'm thinking of re-joining

(19,815 posts)because I couldn't get out from under the flood of emails asking for money....and money didn't help in this election. Over a billion raised and it didn't help.
I get at least 50 solicitations per day now. I was getting more and you just end up buried under the flood.
I've migrated to a gmail address that I never use for any donations.

And since are NEVER not in campaign season, it's all the time, they all want money every single day of the year, every year.

(3,581 posts)I would get emails from various Democratic candidates asking for money, but they were addressed to my dad. Try to unsubscribe and you get a page that says something says if youre not who the email is addressed to, in order to be removed, you need to contact whoever put you on their list. Yeah, no. Screw that. I still hit the unsubscribe button.
The spam texts and spoofed-number calls were incessant until Election Day, when I had none of either. A few spam calls since, but nowhere near as many as before.
The Democrats need to tone down that shit. Its ridiculous.

(15,771 posts)It really pisses me off...
they ask about whether I voted or not, like they are taking tallies for some kind of legal thing...then ask for a donation.
FUCK ALL OF THEM!!!
Kamala supposedly had more money than DJT and look what good it did...
I'm still so pissed i could spit nails!

(13,634 posts)I've gotten a few text messages that looked like phishing, and I never click links in text messages anyway. With email, I use disposable unique DuckDuckGo addresses for each source, so I can kill them and stop the flow when needed.
I reluctantly killed the Act Blue and Vote.org addresses Id been ising for a long time because they were just killing me with the endless fundraising appeals.
Heres info on DuckDuckGos email protection if youre interested:

(9,662 posts)It works like a charm.
Reliable, secure, convenient, and very simple to set up and use.
I can't recommend it enough.

(2,162 posts)I''m guessing I'm missing something obvious. When I went to set it up it says it's sending me a link or passphrase to put in to enroll, but I couldn't find where they sent it to. I looked at my email addresses etc but found nothing there. Help me out here, where would it be? Thanks....
JoseBalow
(9,662 posts)and checked your spam folder, just in case?
I set it up a while ago, but I remember it was easy as pie. I created a DuckDuckGo account with a Duck address that forwards to an anonymous address, which forwards to one of my regular accounts. After that, all the randomly generated addresses follow the same path to my inbox. I've never had a problem with it.
I suggest double-checking your folders, or trying again from scratch.
Good luck!

(2,162 posts)I'll go try again and see what happens. I definitely checked the spam folders. It sounds like a great system. Thanks!

(9,662 posts)Now whenever a website asks you for an email address, you can just right-click in that field and generate a new disposable forwarding address that you can disable at any time.
Enjoy!

(1,956 posts)to "unsubscribe" by responding "Stop". I made heavy use of that option this past election season. It's a pain in the ass, but it almost always worked. The DNC disappeared off my phone a long time ago because I don't want any of my Ameros going to conservative Dems.
