I think
"No, no I don't think you should. I've seen the fruits of your research. I don't think you're up to the task."

(56,084 posts)I find they were led by the nose along a path of right-wing sources all telling them the same thing because they all read from the same script.
I have never found any right-winger to have had an original thought or analysis. 100% of the time, it's a talking point I've heard before from a foxnews clip or a Donnie quote or whatever.
And the right-wing talking points include trashing inconvenient facts and logic. So if their "research" actually included going to some more reasonable websites, they'll only find the stuff the right-wing propaganda "warned" them about.

(1,572 posts)~2007 I said something stupid about Anthropogenic Global Warming on a discussion board. Someone whose opinion I respected merely answered, "You need to look into this (AGW) more closely."
I spent the next two years doing my own research. I read the crap from the deniers. I read the science. The latter frequently required further research to understand what they were talking about. I read well over 100 published scientific papers on a variety of aspects of AGW. At the end of my research, I was convinced. All of the major questions had been answered to (and beyond) my satisfaction.
When some of us research, we actually do the work. Yes, we are a small minority, but we exist. For us, youtube is entertainment, not research.
