Rep. Matt Gaetz's (R-Fla.) resignation from Congress came two days before the House Ethics Committee was set to vote on releasing a “highly damaging” report outlining its investigation into the Republican, according to multiple sources familiar with the probe.

The committee planned to vote Friday on releasing the report. Ethics loses its jurisdiction over Gaetz when he leaves Congress.

The secretive panel has been investigating Gaetz on and off since 2021

Just because he isn't subject to their jurisdiction doesn't mean the House cannot release the Gaetz report. Don't let the GOP play the helpless victim here.

Unlike senate seats, which are left up to state law for replacement, how members of the House are replaced is specifically enumerated in the Constitution: It mandates that representatives must be replaced by an election, to be called by the governor of the state involved.

If at any time after expiration of any Congress and before another election, or if at any time after an election, there shall be a vacancy in this State's representation in the House of Representatives of the United States Congress, the Governor shall issue a writ of election, and by proclamation fix the date…

I think Senate seats are left to state law because they were originally appointed by state legislatures.

26. The House was to vote this coming Friday to release the Gaetz investigation report.

Apparently the Gaetz House Report has some nasty things to say about Gaetz. The facrmt that Gaetz resigned immediately to be djt's US Atty. Gen. the Gaetz House investigation and the report are now void. They have zero jurisdiction after he resigned.

Djt might have appointed Gaetz Atty. Gen. so he gad an excuse to resign from the US House. A deflect the reality that Gaetz ass was on fire because of the soon to be released House Ethics Report.

It is hard to believe Gaetz Senate confirmation for US Atty. Gen. would be anything other than a total clown show of his following alleged illegal behaviors : rampant drug and alcohol use with minors at sex parties, sex parties with under aged girls, paying minors for sex, transporting minors across Stateline for paid sex, pornographic and nude records of underaged minors, and contributing to the delinquency of minors.
