Gavin Newsom v. Don, Jr.
Donnie will either die or be 25th Amendment'ed out by JD Vance within the first 2 years of his term. The Trump Cult members will be outraged that Vance deposed "The Chosen One" and turn against him. Don, Jr. will win the primary and get his clock cleaned by Gavin Newsom in the General Election.
This is all predicated on the (now very tenuous) idea that we even HAVE elections in 2028. I really think there's a better-than-average chance that Donnie will cancel all future elections and declare himself King before the end of 2025.

(8,821 posts)You might want to look up what it requires. Assuming a majority of his cabinet votes for it , which is doubtful. Trump is allowed to contest it. In which case it goes to congress and 2/3 votes are required in both house and senate.
None of that will ever happen. It's even harder than impeachment which only requires a simple majority in house and 2/3 in senate.

(1,750 posts)Will it be fair or Trump would set it up if Dems just keep quiet. If Trump goes through 4 years with no Dem revolution, we are done.

(24,044 posts)Although he will run a hard campaign for the Nomination.
More likely Beshear or Cooper or another Red state Dem Governor (but not Shapiro)
Unless there is a major shift in the Dem power brokers/big donors, the nominee will likely be a straight white male centrist.
The VP nominee will likely be a Latino male.
I dont think Ill see another woman nominee in my lifetime, which is tragic.
As for Cokey, I dont think he will be the heir apparent.
