Janelle Bynum just flipped a red district blue (Oregon's 5th district) and...

Democrats have flipped the same number of seats as Republicans, 7.

Oregon's 5th district!

I'm not googling, going to, watching news. Are there any races still undecided?

4 leaning dem, 4 leaning GOP, hoping we can make that 5 to 3 of the remaining seats which would bring us to 214, which would mean we'd have improved from the current congress by a seat. Hey, it'd be a small win but still a win in an otherwise dismal year

and am so glad she won. Her opponent Chavez-Deremer ran Willie Horton type ads against her.

Her win alone is enough to give me hope.

And if you’ll recall, only in the last few weeks before the election did we start hearing about anything she supposedly “got done” (or was “working on”) for our benefit. She had two years and did WHAT in all that time (besides NOTHING - but maybe building connections to enable her own self-enrichment)? We saw lots of photos of her standing with firefighters’ groups and others like that. But I never saw a single email or other message about what she was specifically doing to help people in this district.

I’m just glad - and RELIEVED - that she’s forced out.

BTW, a few of us Indivisibles stopped by her office to try to see somebody about a meeting (since phone calls and emails weren’t doing any good). No answer at the door, which was locked. AND no way to slip a letter in the front door mail slot. She’d had it glued shut. I know. I bent down and got a closer look. And I ran my fingers around the entire mail slot. All very carefully sealed.

Our Indivisible group has been going to semi-regular meetings in that office for several years, when we had different representation. No such luck since Chavez-de-Boom-Boom got elected. Nobody in her local office EVER made themselves available to meet with us and we certainly had no hope of EVER getting a face-to-face with HER.

Some “representation”, ‘eh?

Glad we flipped that district! Heck, “glad” doesn’t even begin to describe it! “Thrilled” and “ecstatic” tell the story better. “Relieved” is in there like gangbusters, too.

I had the same never nothing response from her and I tried multiple times. Your discovery of the door and mail slot sealed takes the cake! The extreme opposite of a public servant. I was in the 4th district and was lucky to have Peter DeFazio all those years. Then when districts were redrawn and was stuck with DeRemer, I was dashed. Let’s keep on fighting!

Plenty of those Clackamas Goons were the once who made the trip during the George Floyd protests and paint balling the locals.
