I fully expect to be dead within a year thanks to Trump

I'm 57 years on disability due to a horrible accident and I'm also a type 1 diabetic. I also depend on Medicaid for my medication and insulin, which if I had to pay for would cost close to $10k a month. I barely make ends meet now. I have no doubt Trump is going to eliminate both SSDI and Medicaid and there is no way I can work. As we all know, when dictatorships happen the most vulnerable are at the ones to suffer the most. I'm actually ok with death, my 2 year old Australian Shephard though is by my side 24/7, I fear for him the most.

purchase on food stamps. Kennedy is big on calling our food poison. He compared ingredients of a box of cereal to the same one in Europe. It was many added ingredients that are not necessary. He’ll want to make health his priority and make only getting foods without preservatives available. That’s about the only change I see coming.

33. Trump is likely to implement most of the Project 2025 proposals.
Fri Nov 15, 2024, 12:55 AM
Nov 2024

Project 2025 will repeal the Inflation Reduction Act’s drug price negotiation program in Medicare. This would allow drug companies to charge higher prices for drugs, which would make it more expensive for people to buy them. (See page 465 of Mandate for Leadership: The Conservative Promise - a.k.a. Project 2025)

It would eliminate food stamps for people who do not have a job or are not looking for a job. So people who are out of work and do not have enough money to buy food will not be able to get help from the government. [page 299]

And it would make it harder for people to get affordable housing. Which means that people who are struggling to afford a place to live will have fewer options and may end up homeless. [page 503]

Trump and the Republicans are very likely to go after Medicaid, which is for low-income people.

I had a friend who was dying of cancer. Her last years were filled with fear that Trump and the Republican Congress would repeal the ACA. John McCain's thumbs down veto was the only reason they didn't. They have more power now and McCain is gone.

We don't know what they'll do but they will definitely go after poor people first. If that's not you, please show compassion.

Nov 2024

I still do some related work and follow it and Medicare closely. My point is that I’ve heard talks of Medicaid’s demise ever since the 1970s.

Truth of matter is that 67 Million are on Medicare, 20 Million ACA, and 50 Million or so on Medicaid, including half of the children in this country. Doctors and hospitals won’t get paid, drug companies, etc. While perverse, the fact a lot of people profit off those plans, means it’s relatively safe.

I’m as confident as I can be there is no way all Republicans will vote against that number of people. And, private insurance companies profit off everyone of those millions, so they’ll be lobbying and looking for allies.

The fear that POS trump is instilling in people, including a bunch of fools who voted for him, is criminal. But I don’t believe he can do what we fear. Of course, I didn’t think he could win in 2016.

Still believe you are relatively safe. Take care.

But regardless, my thoughts on this are Republicans have been trying to kill these programs since their inception (including Social Security), they think they are money sucking programs, and with the exception of SS they basically are, but obviously there are some like me that would not survive without them. But that's irrelevant to them, they did not care whatsoever when 600,000 died under Trump and if truth be known they would rather people like me be dead. So if they don't care about 600,000 deaths, why would 6 million deaths be any different? Yes, maybe things won't turn out for the worse, but I personally see Trump and company doing everything they can to kill these programs, and they are in a very good position to now do it. I hope I'm wrong but from where I'm at things are not looking very good.

Sending you and your dog a big hug 🤗 Type 1 here myself. You can legally order insulin from Canada in bulk with an rx which will be much cheaper, even for the non covered insulins that medicare did not reduce the price on. A type 1 friend was paying $70 a vial for one of her insulins, fast acting, on medicare. I looked it up at a Canadian Pharmacy and found she could get 4-5 vials for less than that. I just ordered inhalers for one of my cats, it was way less than the price of one inhaler with a big initial sale at the Canadian mail order for a years worth for him.

I only fear leaving my DH. His marbles are going a lot faster than mine, and I basically caretake him. Grandson said if anything ever happened to me, he'd do it. Knowing my kidcats are going to be well taken care of was the last of my "oh, shit" tough it out thoughts. I was able to relax a little once that was taken care of.

61. Not sure what exactly you're trying to debate here

But what you left out from your link is this:

People who have both Medicare and full Medicaid coverage are “dually eligible.” Medicare pays first when you’re a dual eligible and you get Medicare-covered services. Medicaid pays last, after Medicare and any other health insurance you have.

If you're dually eligible, Medicare covers your prescription drugs. You’ll automatically be enrolled in a Medicare drug plan that will cover your drug costs instead of Medicaid. Medicaid may still cover some drugs that Medicare doesn’t cover.

So yea, being on Medicaid makes you eligible for that. You don't think I know how this works? Medicaid pays for the prescription drug plan through Medicare (part D). Those drug plan also come with high deductibles and co-pays. Medicaid picks up that slack. Medicaid also picks up the 20% slack of hospital and doctor visits that Medicare does not cover.

"You do realize Medicare doesn't cover drugs, don't you?"

And here's the info I gave you:

The link you keep posting is IF you have Medicaid (and are on Medicare). No Medicaid, no duel eligibility. Medicaid was expanded under the ACA. Still not sure what you're attempting to debate here.

and that a lot of us will/are facing. So many people DO NOT understand the really of this issue and that attitude pisses me off even more than I already am...which stresses me out and that makes me even more sick. I am down to 83 pounds due to the election and the stress caused by tRump. There are no choices/options available for millions of Americans. That is a fact.

*****In a world where justice prevails only those assholes who voted for tRump would receive ZERO benefits for anything. Life is not fair and tRump cultists should be the ones who suffer for their actions, not those of us who are not sadistic, hate filled, self absorbed monsters.

Just to give you and the pup some piece of mind.
That's something everyone with something or someone they worry about should keep in the back of their minds to do anyway.
I've had a living will and a trust to ensure everyone at least has 10 years of security if something happens to me. One last thing to worry about.

Granted, if the *rump Administration orders his Praetorian Guard to inflict airstrikes on US neighborhoods, any plans we have go out the window.

RFK's platform and record show that although he's been a vaccine skeptic, he's also been actively pro- union, indigenous rights, environmental regulation, and against the corruption and greed of Big Pharma, the US's invasion of Iraq, etc.

I really don't think you should be worried about his influence.

I had a very brief discussion with a friend who is also collecting Social Security. He was full of doubt that Trump could get rid of Social Security. He said that he can't do that because it has to go through congress.

I said but yeah, it will be Trump's congress.

He said "We'll see"

This is all very scary because this is part of the PUTIN'S GREAT PLAN - Gut America so it's ripe for the taking.

My dh is in a similar position. T1 & disabled. He used to take the old school insulin years ago but prefers the newer products. If the govt stops covering insulin, it will piss off big pharma. I hope that will be a factor if we are not a considation.

Democrats are still in office, and while we don't have complete control we can help stop the madness.
