Anybody else's family in a shambles due to this election?

Mine is.

On one side is me, my sister, her SO, and my husband

On the other: my dad & his wife

In the middle: My brother & his wife (they are anti-Trump but maintain that "everyone has a right to their opinion)

Fuck the fascists. Fuck Trump.

He has destroyed this country.

Those are the approximate half the citizens in the US who didn't vote, one way or another.

The toxic or otherwise super-competitive families with loud, obnoxious man- and woman-children muddling their way through adulthood will be turning their families into shambles like a pack of feral teenagers.
Those of us who see the oncoming disaster and dismemberment of our Constitutional protections and government will probably upset the non-voters, though, so that might count as families in shambles for some as those non-voters push back from recriminations.

Funny story (at least for me), my wonderful mother passed away a few years ago at the ripe old age of 99.

Several years after the former was elected, when she was around 96 or so, she said "if someone gave me a gun and I shot him, what could they do to an old woman like me?"

She was politically up-to-date until her very end, kept up with the news, knew all the issues, never repeated herself. I'm so lucky to have been her son.

Family get breaks that others do not because we know each other better and have each seen the best and worst of each other. But when a family member supports tsf and argues that they are completely in the right to do so, they get no special allowance for ignorance or stupidity.

I'd rather prune the family tree, no matter how heavily, than even hint at the possibility of giving these peoples' views any degree of legitimacy.

Atticus had the idea and wrote what became the first and third verse. I asked him for his approval to run with it and make the video. When he said OK, I wrote the middle verse, and directed (from afar) the music track and the video. Atticus had the original inspiration. I know he saw it as a video, but heard nothing from him shortly after. Although I am loathe to make the speculation, as I recall, he lived alone and was retired. If he suffered a debilitating stroke (or worse), and had no immediate friends or family who was aware of his DU participation, there is no way we would have been informed of it. That could be the case for many of us, I suppose.

There are several of the videos that I wrote that have seen some serious popularity. My first collaboration with Don of the Parody Project, "Mar-a-Lagoville," is closing in on a million views. Ghost Donald In The Sky and a few others are well over half a million. Even "Whiter Shade of Fail" now has over 350,000 views. Unlike Randy Rainbow or some more famous others, we have no advertising or media interviews. We are OK with the viewers we have. It's just a hobby with me, and I'm in it for the fun, not the money. The modern day version of shouting from a rooftop, if you will.

Had those events not happened, we'd have probably faced a TCF-based rift.

Instead it was an elder care/neglect -based rift. As it so happened, the pro elder neglect crowd is the people who were later MAGAts. Not exactly a surprise in hindsight, considering the values and motives expressed by either of those positions.

The depths of depravity it took for 10s of millions of our fellow citizens to crown Trump king....

After he murdered your father and a million more.

It truly boggles the mind.

I am so sorry.

Which is where the anger and disappointment comes in. They see it in the opposite way thanks to the Fox/Newsmax bubble shit.

You’d be surprised how different the view is from there. Or maybe you wouldn’t be.

But I’m not turning my back on my dad for anyone or anything. He’s been too good to me for that.

And we are all quite well aware of what the reichwing bubble tells them. It does not excuse their mental laziness in not actually checking things out.

Nobody is telling you to turn your back on your dad. Each person makes theirr own choice for their own reasons, based on their own circumstances.

my DH's sister wants to come and see it. She loves my kids, but we are certain that she voted for the motherfucker.

DH still hasn't answered her text about it...I told him he can tell her to come, as I have another thing for the Saturday night performance, so I'll be attending Sunday afternoon with our other two sons.

But he's not sure he wants to have her there.

Again, she loves our kids...but right now, it's too soon.

We're also glad that this play is that weekend, so that we don't have to go to the big thanksgiving dinner on that weekend.

So, yeah.

Both of my brothers are magats as well. I don't speak to them. No reason to.

There are no excuses this time. None. "I thought he'd make America great again": "He's a strong leader"; "He's a businessman."

No. Unless you were in an 8-year coma, you have no justification and you can't unring the bell.

I forgave them barely after 2016 for supporting Trump.
After all Trump has said and Promised to do and knowing it wasn't a dis-qualifier to them.
I can't do it.
I won't break bread with American Nazi's even if they are my blood.
Besides, they voted for the guy that is going to take away my Health Insurance and theirs. They are just too dumb to know it

Everyone in my family but myself are Trump supporters.

I am a lymphoma survivor and in my third remission.

I was first diagnosed in 1990.

I am in my third remission in part because ACA protects me against lifetime limits.

I tried to tell them multiple times; that if ACA is repealed and I lose lifetime limit protections, I would be at risk.

After the election, I have told them if I die because of anything Trump did, I would let people know.
They were horrified that I would do such a thing.

Some undercurrents for sure.
Am in west Michigan which is red. Left here 20 years ago never planning to come back, but my mother needed me.
She passed December’23. She would be absolutely incensed at all this. I love her friends, but am not adopted daughter of them, ya know? I wish.

Am buying a house on the East side, a blue area. Would almost rather be where I don’t know anyone, but do know they voted for humanity.
