I'm not into soothsaying but I'll do some anyway.

I predict that in two to three years you won't be able to find a single person who'll confess to having voted for Trump.

Of course by then the country will be in economic, social, and ethical ruins, possibly physically so.

Going to give up their cult beliefs. The RW media still going to blow smoke up their ass that the shit sandwich they're eating tastes great. They've believed it for 30 years now. If they haven't woke up yet, I don't see even Trump failing again being the catalyst for changing minds of MAGA. The GOPers that could wake up, did already. But there just weren't enough of them to matter.

There was only one trump sign on my street this year vs 4 last time. I know those other three are trumpers. They were simply too embarrassed to admit it.

Even worse, it's 3 teachers and a cop.

Talk about voting against those who support you and your livelihood. Sheesh.

Overhear people in the local grocery store…known trumpers…saying that they’re glad they didn’t vote for him this year. It’s all a crock…whereas I honestly don’t know/care how they voted apparently they see they made a mistake.
We don’t have trash pickup in our township, we take our refuse to the dump ourselves. The pure amount of trump/vance signs in the recycling dumpster is amazing. After the last election most kept their signs up till spring cleanup.

We will see…FAFO.

Their goal is to show their voters that government is broken. Their committees either weaponize government or investigate issues that have no bearing on reality. Their goals are privatization and tax cuts.

When things go horribly wrong, as they've done in previous republican administrations and will again under this one, the compliant media will blame Democrats.

It'll take some strong dissonance to accept that Democrats are to blame when republicans have control over the entirety of Washington DC but I'm sure they'll manage.

for why it's actually good. Anything that must be admitted to being bad will be blamed on Democrats (even if it makes no logical sense). I agree that the non-cult members who voted for him will no longer admit to it (Hell, many are already regretting their vote), but the cult is all in on Trump until the end.

At a Big Data Rack Manufacturer (Compute and Storage) manufacturer for 5 years before I moved to this Patriot Missile firm.

Our customers included, Microsoft, Amazon, Cern, etc etc

These Racks for data storage are designed to keep data forever.

This is why I joked during Covid that in 100 years my descendants are going to be able to pull down my FB (another customer) and see that their great, great, great Aunt spent Covid posting naughty memes in her private women's fun club group.

It never goes away.

Look, after 1945, Hitler still had admirers, even with the result of Germany's great cities in smoldering ruins, the country dismembered, it's women subject to one of the greatest mass rapes in history, and the brutality of the holocaust open for all to see.

Still there were Nazis.

So yes, there will still be some.

I predict though, that were a lot more "former" Nazis who swore to anyone who asked that they never were Nazis.

He'll still have millions of followers; loyal minions who'd follow him right off a cliff, cheering for him all the way down.
I agree, he'll poison his image with his fascist, dictatorial words and actions, but there is a hard core out there that will never abandon him, no matter what he does to the country and the people.
This is the price the nation will pay for electing a monster, rather than an intelligent, capable, compassionate woman.
I agree that a lot of people will have buyer's remorse, and won't want to let it be known that they voted for him, but you'll still see a lot of MAGA hats on the heads of those stupid, angry, hate-filled people who simply don't care how bad things get under Trump.

that are magical thinkers, this happens. I'm not sure how we could have innoculated ourselves against this.
The rise of the evangelical movement alone has done a lot of damage to people's minds. The Russian
brainwashing of bro culture has done its fair share of damage as well. But we were always uniquely
positioned to believe nonsensical things. Everybody should read the seminal Anti-intellectualism in American Life by
Hofstadter (1963) where he discursively tries to explain why.
