I wonder if tetanus shots are going to be treated skeptically...

(301 posts)1. In my 70s. Had COPD and heart attacks in my 50s. Been careful ever since. Ignored all the junk and stupid stuff people like Kennedy pass on to us.
I get to the pharmacy (free and available and easy to get scheduled) soon as they start announcing them available. Ever since, never had a tiny problem from the shot (which does happen but not kill you primarily), and I never had a tiny beginning of any of the things we are taking the shots for.
Stay happy and alive!

(20,859 posts)They could remove federal protections for vaccine makers which would scare a lot of companies out of the market.
Think. Again.

I have the same thoughts that you.
There will be a run on the vaccines last minute before RFKjr outlaws them.

(64,579 posts)Researchers will move to other developed nations to do research. The US will be begging for medications. US citizens will take special vacations to see doctors and get their meds.

(22,751 posts)In fact, the orange jackass has said he'll spend whatever it takes on gulags. As Joe Sudbay said this evening.....where's our media asking "how are you going to pay for that?" like they do when our side says anything about actually helping people.

(81,731 posts)Was pretty much down for the count on Sunday, feeling really weird, with a wickedly sore arm, but quite tolerable considering the alternatives.
I think it was the new pneumonia shot that made my arm so sore. There is a new pneumonia shot this year:
https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/73/wr/mm7336a3.htm#:~:text=On%20June%2017%2C%202024%2C%20the,but%20adds%20eight%20new%20serotypes.
I've always gotten all 3 vaxes in one arm and never had the weirdness and arm pain that I did with this set but from what I'm reading, that means the va
es?) were doing their jobs.
For those who have had 2 pneumonia shots, you might want to inquire with your healthcare provider or your pharmacist as to whether you qualify for a new one because this new shot covers 21 strains of pneumonia, much more powerful preventative than the previous shots, from what I've read.
Ty for the thread!
Be well, All!

(19,881 posts)I'm going to ask what I might need soon and have them do it.
Of course, I'm not 60 yet, so my insurance won't pay the 300 bucks for the shingles vaccine.
Irish_Dem
(82,386 posts)And send you to the pharmacies for them.
The docs don't want to pay for the special storage requirements.

(100,133 posts)After being with my husband during his shingles attack I just went ahead and told my doc to jab me and Id write him a check. I think we were in our early 50s then. Now we are in our late 70s a couple of years ago the doc said we should both get the 2-part Shingrex. Hubby didnt have much of a reaction, but it just kicked my butt for several days, and Id still rather do that than get shingles.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
