Personal anecdote, interaction with a Trump supporter in Indiana

I'm involved in politics in Elkhart County, Indiana. The day after the election, I had this interaction with a Trump supporter.

She told me that she only votes in presidential elections, she thinks politicians are scum, and votes ONLY for Trump and leaves the rest of the ballot blank.

Like it or not, there are tens of thousands of voters like her across the country, including key swing states. It's why Dems do so well in midterms and special elections, but the GOP outperforms expectations in presidential years.

Big question is if these voters come out again in 2028, or if they stay home when Trump is no longer on the ballot.

1. Entirely backwards. Democrats do better in Presidential years than they do in off years. It's why ...

... so many state legislatures get away with gerrymandering.

Also the bigger the turnout, the better Democrats do.

2. That used to be the case, but it appears to have flipped during the last decade.

Trump won in two of the last three presidential elections, and nearly won in 2020. Meanwhile, Dems wrecked the GOP in the 2018 midterms, far outperformed expectations in 2022, and wiped the floor with them in most special elections over the past seven years.

4. Trump lost the poplar vote 2 out of 3 times

and only won the poplar vote by 1% this time. Losing 2020 by 4.5% is not almost winning in this polarized world. If we are going to say Trump almost won in 2020 we might as well say Trump almost lost this one too.

3. Can we fire up the Covid ovens once again.

I still have an ample supply of N-95 face masks which MAGA adamantly still refuses to wear.

Or is that considered backdoor voter disenfranchisement ?

5. 54% of adults are literate to just below a sixth grade level.

51% of those voting chose fascist dictatorship over Democracy and freedom.
The people that need the Department of ED. the most are the ones wanting to eliminate it.
