My wishes for precious Joe Biden

Last edited Sun Nov 17, 2024, 07:38 PM - Edit history (1)

You did so much for all of us and the world. And you were not treated well by your own party or the media after one debate error.

I guess now it is apres moi, le deluge. Please go for lots of bike rides and eat lots of ice cream. You deserve it.

Every time I wrote to him I always included the sentence, "You are the best president in my lifetime" before it was a cliche. But it's true. He accomplished what seemed impossible: repairing our nation and it's reputation after it was incinerated. He restored our international credibility.

Give it about six months--he'll be appreciated more than anyone thought possible.

It's just tragic beyond comprehension that all the good he has done is about to be wrecked beyond recognition.

I just hope the new administration leaves him and his family the hell alone.

he was not up for a vigorous campaign and maintaining a rather demanding day job.

In fact, if it was not for the constraints of Covid I doubt he was really up for a serious campaign even back in 2020 without the day job.

His performance merited another term but he was in not up for running for it and the public did not trust he could keep up anymore.

Biden dug Harris or any other Democrat a very deep hole and was on course to get Mondaled.

Unfortunately, he got very little of it - mostly due to the media, but that had a ripple effect. He works in a patient, productive, behind-the-scenes way that is basically unappreciated by the booboisie who seem to be driving the narrative.

The flip side of that is that he has likely done a lot of good work that has gone unnoticed that will trip up the bumbling fools on their way in.

But I seriously doubt he'll be able to relax, especially knowing that Trump is the White House trying to dismantle everything that Joe has built. Public service is his life and I'm sure he'll try to find other ways to continue to serve.

It was not simply "one debate error".

When in the course of human events it became necessary to help Biden to step aside, some brave, and often self sacrificing, individuals and organizations stepped up. To put them down, is very ironic and uncalled for.

Is he gets out of that "nice guy" mold for his remainder in office and demand recounts in 7 swing States,
put out a huge reward for information about how the Rs cheated in the election, get the FBI looking into
every aspect of the election and in one on one closed door meetings with elected republicans who view
TSF as a threat to the economy, the Constitution, and world peace find that person who will rat out
how Rs stole the election.

I'm a lifelong democrat and liberal minded person. I also try to be as rational as possible on things. There's no doubt Biden has been a remarkable and valued political leader (absent the Thomas SCOTUS hearings). But here's where it seems I differ from many on this site. Biden got the support from his party to run in 2020 based on his pledge to unite the country and serve a single term. Based on his age, that made perfect sense. Via this expectation, the Democrats had 4 years to groom the best candidate to run in 2024. It's my belief that we failed twice during this time period. We failed to identify the much needed future leader as well as holding Biden to his promise. I find it hard to believe that his wife Jill didn't recognize that it was in her husband's best interest to keep to his pledge. Also, there's plenty of blame to go around within the democratic leadership that this issue wasn't resolved in the early phase of Biden's term. Was leadership worried about a "lame duck" label being applied? It shouldn't have mattered because it had been quite clear that his popularity quotient was dismal. In summary, IMHO the blame for losing to Trump for a 2nd time rests clearly on the shoulders of a leadership team that overlooked the obvious.
