Had to run into town to have a test on my leg at the hospital
stopped into Walmart to pick up some little things
walking past the eggs going to get some butter, a woman and her husband were taking about the price of the eggs
anywhere from high $5 to $3.50
with no comment directed to me
I interjected
You know eggs are chicken abortions.
Rocked his red ball cap back on his head. Picked up the butter and walked away.

(1,387 posts)I think it's important to bring up bird flu when folks are complaining about egg prices. So sick of people blaming Dems for things as if egg prices are driven by some anti egg or anti-farmer economic policy.

(3,110 posts)As a news junkie, I knew that it was frequently mentioned. But I'm guessing that the average voter did not, since it's an issue that would have resonated widely. How to bypass media suppression is a key challenge going forward.

(18,049 posts)Some examples
The VP isnt giving us access, she wont talk to us.
The interview on 60 Minutes, she was asked a question and she was answering the question and all of a sudden while she is still answering the question, there was a voice over mansplaining to us what she was saying.
Why not let her say her piece instead of talking over her so we could get mansplained interpretation?
The media was always prepared to attack her. They did the same with President Biden.
The media is not our friends and they certainly proved it this time around.
So yeah, our message was not getting out for a reason!

Or twenty.
The media has turned to whoring; that is what happens when "integrity" is for sale.

(1,913 posts)the price of eggs. When it was at its highest level of complaining I was shopping at Trader Joe's, not exactly FOOD MAX as far as pricing goes. There were several levels of pricing of eggs from $7.99 a dozen to $2.99 a dozen.
Also reviewed a complaint site of how high groceries were, many posts accompanied with photos of shopping carts loaded with between 70 to 80% prepared foods. Very few make it from scratch choices. But, oh! The weeping and wailing about the cost!
Whatever the price in the USA it is guaranteed the cost to replicate an American $100. shopping cart will be as much as the equivalent of $165. anywhere in Western Europe!

(1,461 posts)Fertilized chicken eggs are not considered abortions. In chickens, fertilized eggs that are collected for consumption or sale typically do not develop into embryos because they are not incubated. For a fertilized egg to develop into a chick, it must be incubated under specific temperature and humidity conditions for about 21 days. Most eggs sold for consumption, even if fertilized, are never incubated and thus do not contain a developing embryo.

(129,183 posts)Two were free, one was 1.99. (my kitty LOVES bacon, what can I say?) I frequently get eggs there as well. .sometimes1.99, sometimes 2..50. Granted, on markdown, but there they are. Several times at my King Soopers, when I heard bitching about the price of eggs, during the worst of the recent bird flu outbreaks, I would say, "What in the f'n hell would you expect when millions of birds have to be destroyed because of the flu. You HAVE heard about it, yes??? All over the news."
I have absolutely NO patience with stupidity.

(38,055 posts)The overwhelming number of eggs sold are produced by hens that haven't seen a male chicken past the chick stage.
