What can the Democrats do at this time to stop the assault on our laws and Constitution?

What power do they have?

Other than informing the American people about what is happening, is there much more they can do?

Trump and Republicans do not plan on working with the Democrats on anything. Their plan is to use raw power to get done whatever they want to do. They have no intention of "uniting" this country. How many Democrats has Trump appointed to his Cabinet? Don't hold your breath.

In my opinion, Democrats should be all over C-SPAN and other outlets to inform the American people and to counter the misinformation that put Trump and the Republicans into power. They cannot be afraid to take on the propagandists.

Other than that, they have very little political power, if any at all.

Loud, obnoxious, and obstructionist may be the best strategy right now?

Apparently, most of the ones in office can't even be bothered to speak up about it.

There are a few speaking out, but the majority of them are silent.

but most of them appear to just want to keep their heads down. I don't know why, but it seems like a lot of Democrats in office are so afraid of being "controversial" that they will accept anything.

Meanwhile, Republicans are hate-filled bullies and they keep getting re-elected.

Apparently, we have moved to a post-decency society.

Now, I'm going to go and make cookies for my son's college marching band. 250 kids plus staff; I need to make a lot of cookies today and tomorrow.

And HAMMER the media all day, every day, to do their fuggin' job.

If resistance is the goal, then we need our leaders to lead it. Daily speeches from the podium, say outrageous bullshit if necessary, make some damn news while it can still be published.

And we havent prepared any hardened defenses to weather through to the other side with anytjing approachong where we are today.

We are heading into a putin style autocracy. It will have a window dressing of democracy, but one in which there will only be one real candidate on any ballot and even holding up a a blank piece of paper will be a serious felony.

Only the ruling class will have rights. And membership will come at the cost of absolute loyalty.

Defeatest? Prove me wrong.

That will, at the very least, force republicans to kill the filibuster, leaving the playing field wide open when Dems win in the midterms.

(Yes, I know they could use reconciliation to circumvent the filibuster on a budget bill, but there are still ways to force them to kill it, and have to use the nuclear option to do so)

but that orange piece of shit could, with help from his little Johnson, just recess the Senate and House for his entire term and rule by fiat.

Would it be legal? No.

Would the Supreme Court say it was legal ( but just for a person with an R after their name)? Yep, in a hot minute.

Leave Congress out of it.

"take a blowtorch to it"
"send shockwaves through the system"
"destroy the administrative state"
"slash and burn"

My dumb, smug sister believes all this is just "making government more efficient"

NO. It's DESTROYING the government. And the economy with it.

LOOK AT ARGENTINA, PHILLIPINES, etc.

AND DEMOCRATS ARE UTTERLY SILENT AND NOT POINTING ANY OF THIS OUT.

AND THE MEDIA IS TOTALLY IGNORING IT.

I was beginning to think I was crazy. I'm glad someone else sees this.

So many people are saying "Oh, it will be okay, they can't destroy it all...."Stop being hysterical!", and my favorite, "they can't do that, we have laws".

Yeah, the media is ignoring or facilitating it.

They were more concerned with Kamala's high school job at McDonalds than they were the end of our nation.

It sucks especially since a lot of people don't seem to see this as the threat it is.

I hope I am hysterical and it won't be that bad, but I have this feeling that it is going to be worse than I can possibly imagine.

And I'm not going to be nice and conciliatory toward people who voted for this and suddenly find the rug ripped out from under them. I'm going to remind them that it is precisely what they voted for.

I went to Mir-a-Lardo to give them advice on how to do it—it all clicked. And Project 2025.

The key to their plan is to KEEP CONGRESS OUT OF IT. They will do everything using Executive orders, govern by fiat, and burn the whole thing down. It's the plan. Just like Milei.

The intent is to destroy the US government and the US economy. Remember Muskrat saying, "There will be temporary pain" -- he means for the US, not HIM. And it won't be "temporary"

It all adds up.

like they did in 2000 when they abandoned Al Gore and let W steal that election. Dems have been rolling over and playing dead ever since. That failure to act will result in our country becoming a Nazi dictatorship on 1/20/25.
