What do you think of the possibility that FL Governor Desantis names Gaetz to Senator Rubio's Senate seat?

As a commenter pointed out, Gaetz was just re-elected. He resigned from THIS congress. Can he take his seat in the NEXT congress that he was just elected to?

1. He's too hot right now. I doubt DeSantis wants to be pulled into this.

I think it was a conversation between Gaetz and MTG about supporting DeSantis on something (not his POTUS run) and Gaetz said “Let’s see how Ron does on the big stage”. I took that as Gaetz being cool to or keeping his distance.

They have a majority but it’s razor thin. Scalise and Johnson apparently have already stressed for Trump to stop picking House members. I’d guess DeSantis would follow along.

They can vote Johnson as Speaker and then resign but we’re talking a margin of 2-4 votes maybe on every vote. That’s without emergency absences, illnesses, or something other.

I think he could have taken his seat back in January - but his resignation letter covered that. He certainly can run (and might even be favored) - but I don’t expect it. But that’s because I think this whole mess was his way of getting out of the House

from AG consideration. New details today show that he engaged in sex with a second under-aged teen, and a woman, at the same party where he engaged in the previously known encounter with a teenager.

Now he's out of a House seat, no AG confirmation prospects and no possibility at all for the Senate. Turns out trump tapping him for AG was a silver lining for US DEMS.

He's now just the pedofile loser he is. And Florida and the nation are better for it.
