Donald Trump made an announcement about his upcoming administration, and his biggest fans are not happy about it.
Trump said on Friday that he had chosen Dr. Janette Nesheiwat, a physician and Fox News medical contributor, as his surgeon general. She also "serves as a medical director at CityMD, a network of urgent care centers in New York and New Jersey," according to Politico's reporting.
Dr. Nesheiwat is a fierce advocate and strong communicator for preventive medicine and public health, Trump said on Friday in a statement on his Truth Social platform. She is committed to ensuring that Americans have access to affordable, quality healthcare, and believes in empowering individuals to take charge of their health to live longer, healthier lives.
The pick did not go over well with Trump's base.
@BlueArmy24, who frequently posts in favor of Trump on Truth Social, responded on the site with a letter from the "base."
"Dear President Trump, many of us MANY of us are very disheartened and upset about this pick -this doctor has been a major advocate for pushing Covid vaccines upon people which are being proven cause much harm," @BlueArmy24 wrote. "She also was a big advocate of masking and other terrible Covid policies please dont let this happen! Sincerely -your base."

(35,898 posts)So yeah, completely over-qualified. These initial picks don't mean much though.
Chump will fire many of them in the first 6 months.

(9,341 posts)I have never really gone on X or even twitter before, but I see it as a way to help bring down Trump/Republicans little by little. Trump is losing a little bit of his power day by day and he hasnt even gotten into office.

(56,734 posts)You can build up a vocal persona (or two or three, though theyll probably be watching for that very thing), a fictional firebrand Trumpanzee who is bitterly disappointed in every move he makes. Sort of like Colberts fictional right-wing host of his Report.

(729 posts)He's pissing off the base, sure, but setting up a financial windfall for privatization. The base, of course, will get the short end of the stick along with the rest of us.
A key phrase: "empowering individuals to take charge of their health to live longer, healthier lives.
What this really means is an excuse to reduce supports for socioeconomic factors that impact health and result in disparities. It also gives a rationale to take away subsidies for health insurance access, and places the blame for chronic health conditions back onto individuals.
Finally, it reinforces a hobby horse of the fundamentalist theocrats, who have been offended for years at having to contribute to the bodily health of groups who differ from them as far as spiritual lifestyles. The were attempts, in the wrangling over Obamacare, to set up "Christian" ( or whatever) "insurance" groups. No smokers, drug addicts, gays, ___ need apply. Those were found to be scams that people paid into but didn't get support back from, and have been challenged in court when new versions have appeared. Stay tuned for them showing up again, with the weight of a corrupt federal govt behind them.

(186,984 posts)Medi-Share (get it?) makes really outrageous claims about membership numbers and next to nothing coverage. The ads have real life examples, low premiums, and reasonable OOP (out of pocket) Max. I noticed the deductible is either not mentioned or murky.
Cell phone deals abound. I really doubt Hannity has Patriot Mobile at his house in The Hamptons.

Cockroaches have more depth. At least they have survival as a first priority.

(2,036 posts)and humans need them for survival. They eat decaying matter, trapping nitrogen in their poop, which is then released into the soil when they go number 2. Without that nitrogen-rich poop feeding our environment, wed be in serious trouble.
Think of no plants, crops, food
So, what can we take away from this? We humans really really need cockroach poop to survive.
Do we need MAGAs? Not really, the case could be made that we are better off without them.
Demobrat
(9,920 posts)is that Trump doesnt need them anymore. He can never run for reelection again, so he doesnt need their votes. He as much as told them so at his rallies.
So he doesnt have to pretend to care what they say/think/want anymore. They dont matter.
Sure, theres the grift to consider, but anybody stupid enough to still fall for that isnt paying attention and isnt going anywhere.
He got what he wanted from them. They might as well sit down and shut up now.
Justice matters.

(5,878 posts)But Citi MD has gone to hell. Ive gone there a few times in recent years, they were already starting to get bad before the pandemic and now theyre just awful. I had to go for two situations were there was no other option in the past three or four months
last time was not terrible, but the first time was bloody awful. The doctor was a total idiot and hostile, however, that can happen anywhere as I well know.
In addition the x-ray technician was nasty and refused to let me take off my insulin pump and put it in her area where would not be exposed to x-ray. Two weeks later, my pump had a software malfunction. Fortunately they shipped a brand new one, and I had my old out of warranty to keep me going. Not had time yet to complain to their office manager. I was feeling very ill at the time with severe bronchitis otherwise, I wouldve insisted on putting it in another room. Its very hard having to deal with a bunch of ignoramuses in the medical profession, but I should be used to it by now.

Trump eventually lost all control over his MAGA chuds, so that when he bragged about the (minimal) role his administration played in the development of Covid vaccines (his idiotic "Warp Speed" initiative), he was booed off the stage! ...
