(22,727 posts)But that's fine. I like it. I do tend to overcomplicate things. Maybe that's why I like it.

(6,679 posts)Yeah the design is very complicated but so was Jimmy Carters life. Perhaps the throwing up emoji was a bit over response. But that seems to be many of our reactions to these days. Pretty understandable.

(172,211 posts)the Whitehouse Historical Association has been offering one of each year's set of ornaments that honor a President (and they did start with George Washington back then).
The 2022 one was Nixon -

Last year's was Ford -

And this year's was Carter. Next year will be Raygun.

(68,471 posts)my husband converted to Judaism years before I met him but I still liked having the tree and my treasured ornaments. The poor guy had to haul in the tree I brought home and fit it into the stand...well, you know what's involved...
I gave away all my treasured ornaments to my daughter so her kids could enjoy the xmas tree. It was fun then but they are all grown now.

(172,211 posts)back during Biden's first year when the WH Historical Association offered a set of wooden Easter Eggs with Champ and Major on them that I thought were cute (and then saw all the other stuff they were selling) -

I got them for my youngest nephews and grand-nephews.

(5,431 posts)I think we will buy one. Hubby is a Navy vet, we both love Jimmy Carter, and we both hold hope dear to our hearts. What's not to love? I like that it's "busy." Thanks for the post.

(34,344 posts)Hope and stability, the anchor.
What could be more appropriate for our time?
The spiritual meaning of an anchor runs deep through human history, transcending cultures and religions to become one of the most profound symbols of hope, faith, and steadfast devotion. From ancient mariners to modern spiritual seekers, the anchor has served as a powerful metaphor for finding stability in lifes stormy waters.
The Historical Foundation of Anchor Symbolism
The anchors spiritual significance dates back to ancient civilizations, where it first emerged as more than just a nautical tool. Early Christians, facing persecution, used the anchor as a disguised cross symbol, combining their faith with hope for salvation. In ancient Greek culture, the anchor represented safety and stability, often associated with Artemis, the goddess of protection. The symbol appeared on coins, jewelry, and architectural elements.
Maritime communities worldwide have long viewed anchors as sacred objects, believing they bridge the gap between the earthly realm and the deep mysteries of the ocean. This reverence has carried through generations, making the anchor a timeless spiritual icon.
Core Spiritual Meanings
Hope in Difficult Times
The anchor represents unwavering hope during lifes challenges, much like how a physical anchor holds steady during storms. When waves crash and winds howl, the anchor remains firm, teaching us about perseverance and faith.

Maybe it's time to get a blue anchor pendant.

(2,600 posts)The actual ornament, not so much. But it is a nice tribute to President Carter. I used to collect these and other DC ornaments until about 15 years ago, when I stopped putting up a tree. The early ornaments are not great, but the many of the later ornaments are stunning little works of art.

(14,200 posts)The ornament is in three dimensions so it doesn't seem as "busy" as the picture. The reverse side has a submarine and... peanuts! I ordered four early in the year when they were first announced.
